Very cool. The 2nd one’s my favourite too. Look forward to seeing some more.

Cheers,

Paul.

Too Cool for School! The second one here as well. Although I like that color on the US Forest Service truck. How much of these projects are scratch and kit. Are they converted die casts or pure plastic?

Very cool stuff Aaron. Glad tos ee some of your builds finally.

I just visited your website and answered my own question.

Neet-O projects.

Man, where did you get that US Forest Service Brush Truck from??? I love that thing. I wouldnt make it a forest truck, but i got some ideas.

ALso, do they make plain old ford f 150s?

Glad you like them, I had fun making them.

The Forest Service Ford F450 is a Testor’ s 1/25 Ford F350 diecast and plastic 3 in 1 kit, it could be built as a pickup, stake side or flat bed. I used the flat bed and built the pumper unit and lower boxes from sheet styrene, I also used parts from AMT’s 1984 Chevy 4x4, including the brush guard and many lights, I was given the light bar. The door latches are from Spaulding trading and shipping. Eventually I will put equipment in the top racks but have been too lazy to cast any. I made the decals using the Testor’s decal kit.

The 1948 Ford is Maisto’s 1/25 Ford F1 diecast kit, I replaced the wheels with off road wheels from a Jeep kit, the pumper unit, hose reel, crew benches and some of the equipment was built from sheet styrene. The lights and some of the tools are from the Model truck and Fire Apparatus Company, the siren on the fender is from the Polar lights Ghostbusters kit.

The 1960 Chevy Rescue is built from AMT’s 1/25 1960 Chevrolet pickup. I built the box from sheet styrene, the door latches and mesh screen are from spalding trading and shipping. The siren is from Model truck and fire apparatus company, I was given the gumball light.

Interesting little collection and a great example of what modelling can be - kit parts, mixed and matched with aftermarket stuff and some scratch building. Very nice, hope we can see more.

Awesome builds there! Way cool!

Well, it looks like you got the photo lighting just right. Even looks better than an outdoor shot. Did you use the on-camera flash? The light looks so even, and not too warm like incandescent usually looks. Nice even background, just a hint of a seam at the right of the pics. The seam disappears as you look left.
And the models are nice, too! Unique subjects, well executed. Your description reads like a lesson in s aftermarket detailing and scratchbuilding for the novice. A great example of what can be done, and where to find what you need to do it. Thanks for posting!

The website I think you pointed out to me with the photo box worked well, so no more on camera flash, I think that is what was washing out the detaiIs before.
I bought a tripod and 2x 150 watt halogen clamp on work lights but I’m thinking about adding a 500 watt as well since I had to lighten up the photos a bit in photoshop.

Very nice builds and very interesting subjects. Keep up the good work.
