Just got a 1/48th Revell F-18 "D'Skunk!!"

Thinking that it is identical to the Monogram 1/48 F-18, I purchased a Revell F-18 in the “Yeager Super Fighter” series featuring the decals for “D’skunk.” When I opened the box, to my surprise, It wasnt the same as my older Monogram kit! Now I am currently in search of info for this kit if I should even bother building it.

I can’t find any reviews online or pics of the airplane. I believe that the Revell models usually weren’t as well-done as the Monogram ones before they merged and it shows in the kit. Does anyone know this particular kit? What are the things I should know before doing it? Any comments? Any info would be highly appreciated with the plane and the particular airplane.Thank y’all!!!

She’s my current project! It isn’t quite as good as the Revell/Monogram kit currently on shelves, but I have seen worse F-18 kits. Shape and outline look pretty good to me although I haven’t officially checked on it yet. My only major complaint is the cockpit. It is a one piece deal consisting of the side consoles, instrument panel, and rear bulkhead. There is no floor in it though… the top of the nose gear well has a slot that the seat and control stick fit into! I am putting a Monogram cockpit in her instead. The only drawback to that is that the nosegear well has to be cut down in height in order to fit under the new cockpit tub.The fit is actually pretty good, but there are a few minor gaps. Since no under wing pylons are included, I put Monogram ones on. Overall I think it’s a pretty decent kit and can be built up into a nice looking model.

I remember this Yeager Revel kit, and I thought it was Crap. The Monogram kit is really much better- although by no means perfect.
