This post is especially for Mark Joyce. I know I promised you a few weeks ago that I would post that pic of my P-40 which you saw in the background of the P-61s I posted. So here ya go! It’s the AmTech kit which is pretty much the old Ertl kit. This was my one and only experience with Ertl and I was quite happily surprised at how it turned out! It all fit rather nicely and the kit also came with resin wheels/tires. The last P-40 I built before this one was about 24 years ago when I was ten! I’m glad I’ve got another one in the stable now.
I’ll also post some of my other recent builds. I got the F-80 off of eBay and I got the decals from there two but from a different seller. I love those flashy marking!
Finally here is the AM B-25. There wasn’t one bad thing I could say about this kit. This kit is the way all kits should be. The supplied the nose weights and canopy masks. What more could I ask for! Ha-ha-ha! All the weathering was done with pastel chalks. I did the paint chipping by first painting the base coat aluminum and then “chipping” the OD top coat with crumpled masking tape to pull off bits of it. (Same as on the P-40 above)
Also, here’s one last P-61. When I was constructing this kit my wife caught a glimps of the after market decals and really liked the “Midnight Belle”. So I built that one for her and I gave it to her before we were married. I’m so glad we’re still together. I would have really missed that plane. LOL!
I love this forum so please provide any criticism and advice. Thanks!
Eric
