Here’s one I finished over the weekend: Hasegawa’s 1/24 scale Subaru 360. It’s finished essentially straight-from-the-box. I couldn’t resist painting it “WR Blue Pearl” – the color Subaru uses for its WRC rally cars.
I was editor of Subaru’s Drive magazine for a couple of years before I came back to FSM, and this was a project I started while I worked there. The 360 was one of Subaru’s first passenger cars, and is often thought of as the Japanese version of the VW Beetle.
The kit went together nicely, except for the windshield wipers, which I couldn’t get to fit properly. I ended up deleting them, but I’ll probably dig around in my parts box for replacements at some point.
Love the color! Also like how the finish looks, well flawless…did you use a rattle can like you did in the FSM issue? Either way looks great. I understand about the wipers wish some manufacturers would spend a lil more time on this small but important detail…

This one was just for fun – it was a project I kept messing around with while I was waiting for the glue/paint on other projects to dry. Before I knew it, it was done.
I painted it with Tamiya’s spray-can “Mica Blue” (TS-50). I hadn’t tried this particular Tamiya paint (which I wanted to use on a couple of WRC cars), and I thought the 360 would make a nice test swatch. The finish turned out so nice (due to the paint, not my painting skills) that I kept messing with the rest of the model until it was done.

I figured you were spoofin’ on the color Subaru uses for WRC. (Darn it!)
I know a mech who helps put Team Subaru cars together and he told me the color they use is a secret. He can’t even get some for his models.
But, very nice job on the kit, except you should have put some WRC declas on it for the full effect.
