Just finished 1/144 scale

Hey, im new to the site but not to modelling. I’m 16 and have been modelling since before I can remember starting with snap-tite cars and trucks with my dad. I’ve moved on to armor and aircraft models now, mostly 1/72 WWII and a little 1/144. I mostly got into the 1/144 because I’m currently working on an N-scale layout and wanted to incorporate some military theme into it. I bought a lot of 1/144 tanks by Takara and various companies off of eBay and I plan to use them all up on dios or the layout. I’ve made a few little dios for 1/72 before that i might post later.

Anyways…

This is my latest dio in 1/144, I haven’t thought of a title because i dont usually name mine. The tank is a Nashorn that I slightly weathered and i repainted the figures from their original black uniforms. I laid down some WS deadgrass and groundcovers first then made the scratchbuilt tree out things I found in the garbage. The bushes are just foliage clusters, I didn’t feel the need to get too elaborate because it’s a small scale and it would be mostly covered by snow anyways. The base is just a piece of the white bead foam. I usually just keep the sides of my dios plain and showing the foam because I’m really the only one who sees them other than my parents but this time i decided to cut some scraps i found in the woodshop to length and glue them to the side. The sides also helped keep the loose snow from falling off. The snow is just some flour i sifted over glued damped ground, then I added another layer ontop that’s loose and fluffy. Anyways sorry for the long speech, and heres the pics.

Ignore what the tree looks like in the next two pics, it doesnt look like it should in the first one.

I also need to become better at taking pictures. Plus its a small scale so it’s hard to focus.

Wow! Very nice. Is that one of the Takara kits then? I’ve seen the Dragon one. Were the figures in that pose or did modify them? I’ve got a soft spot for 1/144. I guess the sig gives that away.

great looking build . what did you use for snow?

1st off [#welcome] Home and WOW, GREAT Builds. The snow looks GOOD !

Thanks for all the feedback guys, it’s very much appreciated. If you read the mini article I wrote on it I explain all my methods and what I used. Yes it’s a Takara Nashorn and the figures are all unmodified other than being repainted. As mentioned above I just used sifted flour overtop of a layer of groundfoam. I put the ground foam there first because i was thinking of just a light dusting of snow, or possibly thawing. Well the light dusting is too easy to replicate, and the thawing is a little too tricky and I’ll wait till I experiment with it more, so i did the inbetween (literally) which is the heavy snowdfall thats a scale 6-12" deep.

Unfortunatly I dropped a pair of pliers on the edge of the edge of the base cracking the veneer and kinda ruining the snowfall and misplacing figures. But I’ll fix it soon and maybe add a little more and revamp a bit. Anyone have any suggestions for anything to incorporate or even take out? Thanks.
