Hey all. I just went to the Omaha IPMS contest today an came back with quite a haul! A man there was trying to get rid of his large collection of kits and was charging no more than $10 for any kit (USA dollars). I could not help myself. Here it goes!
–an update set for the Monogram MiG-29 (1/48) for $4
–1/72 Kits (sold for $1 each!)
p-51d mustang (minicraft/hasegawa)
bf-109e emil (minicraft/hasegawa)
p-40 mk.I kittyhawk (minicraft/hasegawa)
mig-25a foxbat (minicraft/hasegawa)
harrier gr.3 (mpc?)
spitfire Mk.14 and german flying bomb (frog)
aj-37 viggen (hasegawa)
p-39q/n airacobra (academy)
“Aircraft of Desert Storm” : a-6e intruer, a-10 warthog, f-117a night hawk, f-15e strike eagle (revell)
mirage 2000n (heller)
–1/48 Kits (sold for $5-10)
b-17g flying fortress with Shep Paine insert (monogram)
mig-21 mf/bis/smt (zse?)
p-47n thunderbolt (academy)
b-25j Mitchell (monogram)
tornado f3 (airfix)
–1/32 scale P-40e warhawk (revell) sold for less than $10
–1/72 b-47e Stratojet sold for $25, bought by my father and given to me
Thats 20 more models for me and an update set all for less than $50! Whew! I was wondering if any of you folk have heard of some of these kits (or have built them yourselves) and could comment or point out anything I should look out for in these kits I bought. It was a fun day for me! Thanks in advance!
That’s quite a good haul. I know some of those kits have been out for some time, some over 30 years. I remember when the Mig 25 kit came out. It was just after Victor Belenko landed his aircraft at Hokido Air Port, causing a major scene and strating an international incident between teh Russians and the Japanese. About nine months later Hasegawa released their kit with a picture of it partly covered up. Considering how long it might take to get a kit out we figured that there must have been one or two Hasegawa technicians crawling aroune there as well.
ok PAL, assume the position! it sounds like you in possession of stolen property and you just confessed![H] You got a serious batch of deals there! I have been trying to get one of those MiG-29 update sets for along time!
Nice haul…in order to double my stash I would have to get a bailout from the US Govt…I’d call it the “Styrene Omnibuus Act and Reconciliation of 2010”…or “SOAR” for short…
You’ve got some pretty good kits there…although I’ve never built any of these particular kits, any kit, no matter how ordinary, can be made to look good with patience and care.
