Tamiya F4F converted to FM-2 flown by Lt. B A Mcgraw off USS Gambier Bay Oct. 1944

Very nice builds Mark. I have the KMC conversion set but haven’t tried it yet. Any tips on using it?
Regards, Rick
Very nice looking builds.
Very nice looking builds.
Very nice looking builds.
3 builds… had to say it three times.
Great looking Cats!! I have one on the build pile that I am looking forward to getting to!
looking good! I would be interested in hearing about the conversion kit also… I’m a big fan of those Wildcats/Martlets and a FM-2 would be right up my alley!
Thanks guys. The F4F-3 conversion goes together quite easily the only hard part is sanding the wings to get the proper dihedral. The FM-2 went together with no problems the exhaust troughs were a little shallow but a little sanding fixed that. I always wanted to build an aircraft from the Gambier Bay after reading the book Men of the Gambier Bay.
Nice array of Cats. I always liked the early schemes with markings.
Nice pack of Wild Cats you have there, those Tamiya cats sure are nice kits…
Nice work on the F4 trilogy. They serve as a proud reminder of valiant warriors.

Thanks I really enjoy these Tamiya wildcats.
mkhoot…great looking Wildcats…nice “diversity”. By the way, which color scheme do you like the best? The Wildcat is such a neat little plane, and very high-tech for its time. Did you run into any troubles with the landing gear?
NIce set of wildcats Mkhoot! [tup] A pretty ambitous project but it looks great. The early colours are my favorite.
Nice builds-but no tri-colour scheme?
Nice builds, Mark !!!
Is it 1/48 scale?
Cheers,
Jürgen
Thanks guys. I really liked building these. I thinking about getting a couple more and doing 1 in the atlantic scheme and 1 in fleet air arm colours. Jurgen yes they are the Tamiya 1/48th kits.
Mark
Very nice job on all three! How did the Tamiya decals work for you? I want to build mine in the same markings as your first, the one off the Ranger.
Mark
Mark the Decals worked fine they were a little thick I replaced the stars with ones from Aeromaster.
Nice work on the wildcats. There is talk of an upcoming atlantic group build that I think a few of us are possibly planning on doing wildcats…maybe you too?
Leon
Nice looking trio and to finish all three at once. Progress for me on one Avenger is taking sooooo long. Good work.
