That’s surprising, I figured they were all pretty old, not that old is necessarily bad. I think I enjoy the older kits best anyway, seems like alot of the newer stuff especially AFV,s do to much for the biulder which kind of takes away from the experience and the sense of accomplishment. Nothing like “making it work” And they are usually several orders of magnitude cheaper.
Most are from the 2000s, Tamiya set is from 1974 and was often included in the M3A2 halftrack kit. I’m not sure about the Zvezda set; it might be an old Italeri set reboxed or Dragon set reboxed or even an original set.
I’ve built some Master Box 1/25 pin-up girls for posing with car models. The figures are OK (eh) but I think way too expensive. What you get is a very nice glossy box with an artist’s rendition of the figure on the front, which will only vaguely resemble the enclosed figure, which is a single small sprue with about a dozen parts that comprise the figure. I think the box cost more than the figure.
I have the 1/35 pinups, I think there are 8 figures in that package or maybe 6? I’d have to look at it again. I saw one that somone else did and it looked really good!
I’m thinking on using them for a imaginary U.S.O. show dio.
Yeah, I think it’s not possible to do a realistic paint job on a 1/25 figure. 1/35 would be much nicer. The 1/25 figures came one in a box, for $12.95 each, which I think is a bit steep. And that box is big enough to hold a dozen figures- strange packaging, but very attractive.
The Zvezda Panzer Grenadier set is of their own molding. It’s ok, I have built it. Better than old Tamiya, but not as good as some of the others listed.
Yeah most of those are pretty good figures. And the Tamiya ones are excellent practice figures as well as you can rob arms and other parts etc to customize the others.
Keavdog: Really nice work there!
Chuck: I think the reason for the large boxes is one of our clubmembers who used to work in a hobby shop had a big problem with people stealing expensive resin figures in small boxes. Then they’d drive to another hobby shop in a nearby town and tell them ‘A friend bought this for me so I don’t have the recipt. Can I still get a refund on it?’
Thanks for citing that thread here, Pawel! It’s great to show what can be done with Tamiya’s figures. Though I agree that they aren’t as detailed as today’s resin or white metal figures, I don’t think they should be dismissed out of hand.
I think I have to agree with you . I bought the whole set in 1/25 . Beautiful Box , Enough parts for one female figure . They could’ve put a foursome in one box . Oh well . They do build up nice though .
