Just a quick question about RATO units. (I know Pixilater knows this...)

With Luftwaffe RATO bottles (those used on the Me 323 Gigant and Ar 234, to name a few) a cord was attached to the wing and the parachute on the end of the unit, so the parachute deployed when the bottle was disengaged. (The falling bottle pulled the cord, which deployed the chute.) My question- does anyone know of any pics (real or of a scale model) that show exactly where the cord is attached to the wing, and the chute for that matter? It’s just to finish up a bit of minor business on the Ju 290Z’s 8 (!) RATO units. Thanks.

Here’s the attachment on an Ar 234.

And here it is in 1/48 on my 234:

Hope this helps !

Yep! Just what I was looking for. Thanks! I’d like to add this little detail to my 1/72 creation, as I could see it as something usually overlooked. This actually remined me of something else I need to add- the two crossing chute straps. Thanks!
