I got a Ju 52 kit, the plane with the corrugated metal skin all over. Of course painting a solid color would be fairly easy, but then I see pics of builds with camo and stripes. How is this done w/o getting run lines and high spots? Even with a decent AB. I imagine that some sort of clay/putty might work. Other techniques?? Danke
I recon if you made paper masks that sit ontop of the “high spots” and spray at a 90 degree angle to it , building up a few coats rather than flooding it, you should be OK.
I can’t recall ever getting a “run” even with very thinned paint.

The corrugation is pretty small and my last 1/72 JU 52 did not show any signs of bleeding. just make sure you use quality masking tape i.e. Tamiya
Yep, using some Silly Putty or something similar should work quite well. If you use tape, make sure that you burnish it down well in the valleys of the corrugation to prevent any possible bleeding under the masks. Good Luck on it!
Blu Tack is great for this kind of thing… not sure which countries its available in but there would be similar products everywhere.
silly putty works but may be hard to get straight lines. might consider tamita tape for the actual edge and then spraying the base coat or flat to “seal” the edge
