I want to make a jungle scene diorama.
What do you guys use for jungle style plants for 1/35th.
i.e. Banana plants, broad leaf tropical plants, palms, vines, ferns, etc…

You might want to try a pet supply shop that has an aquarium section.
There’s a ton of different plastic plant types out there to choose from to put in a fish tank.
I think they all try to go 1/1 scale in the actual plants that they mimic, but you might find something that looks similar to what you want and my be close to the right size for your diorama needs.
Good luck
Check out www.woodlandscenics.com They have stuff for model RR and “G” scale is 1/32 scale (i think).
Try www.walthers.com they have Preiser HO scale
1/87th palm trees #590-18600.They also carry scenery
items for O scale 1/48th and G scale 1/29th / large scale.
If you have a local hobby shop that sells model railroad
equipment they probably have Walthers catalogs you
can look at . Most items have at least one color photo.

Thanks, for the tip Fuzzy.
I tried the Woodland scenics, but to no avail. Mostly deciduous trees and leaves. I cringe at having to cut out foil or paper to make the plants. The pet store was a good shot. There were a couple of packages of plants that looked like they might be the right scale and will fit the scene. I’ll give Walthers a shot.
I know European theatre dominates the market but Pacific theatre has some great opportunities as well. If I can’t come up with some good stuff I suppose I could fall back on good old Iwo Jima volcanic ash.
Mike
Plastruct.com carries palm trees, but they are expensive.
Perhaps if you had a pattern you could print out on green paper then cut it out and glue one or two to the top of a stick…
Thanks Umi,
The paper method will definately work for some of the broad leaf plants.
