Hi all! Just had a quick question that’s been bugging me for a while. I recently built a 1/48 Stuka and during my pre-building research i tried to determine what the purpose of the two 90 degree"prongs" located on the lower third of the fuselage underneath the gunner’s position were for. I wasn’t able to find anything definitive on them. My first though was that they were antennas but i’m now thinking maybe they were some kind of step to facilitate the back seater getting in the cockpit. Anybody out there who knows for sure please respond. Thanks!
They are steps.
This is the one German aircraft I want to build. I want to make the “tank buster” with the canons…How did your build go? Any problems?
Did you see the Pixilator’s tank buster build? Man, that was one sweet model!

LemonJello, i built the “tank buster” when i was was just starting out in modeling over 20 years ago so i can’t quite remember any of the details of that one. This one however, turned out great, thanks to my research and slow and methodical approach. The only problem i encountered was with the dive breaks staying in position while the glue dried. Next time i may use crazy glue instead. I modeled mine after a battle of Britain era Stuka but will eventually do an eastern front tankbuster to go along with this one.
Just checked out Pixilator’s build, too cool for words. That is the one I want to get. Had the chance a couple times before, just never seemed to get out of the store with it.
Mize, thanks for the tip on the dive brakes. I’ll be adding this one to the “gotta get” list.
