work on my Ju-88 continues and today I got the canopy glass on and some pre-winter camo paint too. I have had a go at building a German hard standing area and wondered if my wooden planks look OK.
Eventually, this will be a winter scene so the grass will be covered by snow and I will give the planks some weathering to simulate frost, if I do a decent job on the aircraft, I will add some accessories and figures to the base. Let me know what you think so far.
Looks really nice, Darren.
Say, to simulate frost, Perhaps you could spray a rattle can flat coat on the planks at a distance so the stuff dries before it hits the surface… That makes it look pretty frosty.
I learned that one the hard way. I was painting my P-47 and needed a flat coat so I went to the LHS and got a cheap rattle can. Whoops, guess it was a cold morning…
I accidentally found out how to simulate “frost” today. I wanted to make my homemade flat coat flatter and mixed in a little to much Tamiya base to my Future and thinner. Needless to say, a late fall dio would be a great setting for my M4A1.
Thanks Mucker, I have never finished a twin prop aircraft before, so I’m hoping this may be the first of many. I am having fun with this one and experimenting with diorama techniques at the same time has proved very interesting. I can’t wait to get the winter camo scheme on this one, I hope it turns out the way I want it to. Darren.
