This is Revell’s 1/72 Ju 290 A-5 kit pretty much staright out of the box. a very nice kit with lots and lots of pieces and plenty of opportunity to open things up if you so desire. My biggest challenge in building this was trying to keep a large enough area clear enough to set it down on my work bench.
Very well done, from the subtle panel line highlighting to the crispness of the canopies, engines, antennas, etc. Absolutely beautiful. What a behemoth of a kit…evern for 1/72! It’s nice to see a 290 on the forums. I love seeing Luftwaffe birds…such cool color schemes.
The paint is well done, the panel lines and weathering are very subtle yet distinct, the office looks nice- and bonus points for building such an unusual subject!
What? Not one, but TWO Ju 290s on the Boards in less than two months? Does this mean someone wants me to get crackin’ and build another one? [:D]
Sorry, but after building two of these huge suckers, they’ve kind of found a soft place in my heart. Even OOB, there’s more than enough detail for the average modeller. Very nice work. You certainly did the ol’ bird justice.
Thanks everyone for your comments. They are much appreciated. Mike, I would defintiley take that as a sign to start building another. I really enjoyed seeing your zwilling version and I hope you get a chance to rebuild it one day.
Well, I’d like to at least get my vac Hughes H-4 (Spruce Goose) out of the way first, and possibly finish Revell Germany’s Bv 222 that I’ve got sitting around. After that, though, is a great possibility.
I’d like to do something with my next Zwilling that I never got to do with my first. Hopefully I can scratchbuild a few nose and tail turrets and build a pressurized -B version. I’ve still got my wing plug from the first one, so work should go faster on the second.
But first, I need to save up some extra money to get two more kits! Right now I’m a typical broke college kid! [;)]
I’m glad you had fun with it, and once again, keep up the good work.
