JS-3M Driver Figure Dillema

I want to put a driver figure (Tamiya’s “Russian Army Tank Crew at Rest” set) into the driver’s hatch of my Trumpeter JS-3M.

Problem is I’ve never seen a real vehicle photo with the mechanic driving with his head out and I don’t know how much of his head should be visible outside of the vehicle.

I have one picture of a captured Egyptian JS-3 in an Israeli parade, and the driver’s head from the chin up is visable.

From the chin up? Cool, thank you.,

I concur with Monster Zero. That’s about all he’d be able to stick out of that tiny little hatch! I’ve also seen photos of just that. Soviets liked to train hatch closed (like on the Abrams, but not the M60’s) and parade hatch open. SO if the tank is training or in combat, the driver (and loader) would be down. The TC would be anywhere from waist to head defilade, depending on his hatch position and sense of danger.
