i can get mutts from the major model companies academy, tamiya for 5-8 bucks each at many on-line places. why is that the jeep (wwii) which these same companies made even before their mutts are 3-4 times more money.the molds and the costs etc have long been covered so it would seem it should be cheaper to do them
Tamiya did three boxings of the Mutt, all of which are relatively cheap now (the Academy clones are even cheaper). The new Academy M151A1/A2 Mutts are only about $10 or so, pretty good price.
Tamiya did three Jeeps. Two are old (SAS Jeep and Willys MB w/trailer) and one is newer. I’ve seen the old SAS Jeep go for around $5-10. The old one with a trailer and MPs is a little more, probably because of the collectability value. The new Tamiya Jeep only runs about $10 or so.
Which Jeep are you looking for and who is asking a lot for it?
That Jeep kit was first issued in early 1998. Overall, a much better kit than the old Tamiya Jeeps and very much superior to the more recent Academy M151A1/A2 Mutts.
I know my Hobby Lobby carries the Tamiya Jeep and I can keep an eye out for one when they have a 50% off sale. I’ve bought one there recently and it was $16.99 (before 50% off). It is the best Jeep kit on the market in 1/35 scale. While no aftermarket accessories are needed, Custom Dioramics does a nice little PE set that adds just a little bit extra to the kit and it normally runs around $5.
[:)] i have 3 willys mb jeeps, all i 1;24,one has a .30 mg one has a .50 mg and one has a trailer, all the kits are from Hasaguwa and there nice kits to do.[:)]
I’ve got the .30 cal one, but the Eduard PE set for the .50 cal one. Very nice kit indeed. Hopefully we will get some more large scale armor to go with these kits.
[:)] hi Rob,it would nice to get some large scale armor, and what about some figures, and some detale gear to fill the traler?theres got to be a place where we can get that stuff,.[:)]
