Does anyone own this booth or has anyone heard anything about it? I need a booth and am trying to keep my price below $200. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
I know nothing about the JC booth, but I just recently bought a new paasche hobby booth from ebay. With shipping it was just under 200 bones. It’s awesome. I like its size (2’ x 2’ base, 18" high), and it has performed excellently. Check it out here:
Paasche has been selling them new via Ebay for a while now. A great deal from my point of view, compared to what else it out there. Good luck and happy painting [:)] Jon
Quite impressive…I believe I may have seen your post a while back while searching the forum. I think I may build my own now…you wouldn’t happen to have any plans for the one you built or any others, would you? If not, I suppose I can get creative. Thanks to both of you for your input.
feel free to ask any questions you might have. It does take some time to build, but it’s much more satisfying and you can get a booth excatly the way you want, if you build it yourself.
Thanks for the links…I think I may try to tackle this project this weekend (at least get the booth built). One quick question…I checked out the blower you used…is it explosion-proof? I have read a lot about making sure to use a “safe” fan and although I will mainly be using acrylics, I was just wondering. Thanks again.
I mostly use acrylics, so I’m not worried.
It’s a “shaded pole blower”. The motor is outside the flow of air. It’s not “explosion proof”, but I have shot enamel thinner (during AB cleaning) right into the intake…and I’m still here.
I think you’ll find that most commercial spray booths use the “pole blower” type fan. (The JC booth’s fan is the same type.) They are not “explosion proof”, like let’s say…bilge blowers. (used to get fumes out of boat engine rooms). But, they are obviously safe enough for commercial use.
Well, I ordered the blower tonight and am drawing up plans for the big build this weekend. I hope you don’t mind me “stealing” your concept/ideas, but I must admit yours is one of the best homemade booths I have seen (I guess it’s your fault for posting the pics…lol). Hopefully I will be able to take some pics once it is complete and let you know how it went. Thanks again for all your tips and advice; I just couldn’t part with $250 + for a similar size booth.
