Japanese Group Build XIII

It is an earlier Hasegawa kit. One thing that I was worried about was the landing gear, the main gear is kind of wobbly and leans forward a lot so I think it is best to let the glue harden really well before setting the model on its landing gear. I made masks for the Shinden, here is a link to my web pages where you can download a dxf file for cutting in a vinyl cutter:

And here is a jpg:

Thank you John-this will come in handy.

Gary: She’s coming along well! Nice work!!!

John: Cool! I’ll file those away for whenever I start on mine.

Well, looks like I’m able to get in consistenly now. And lots of great updates.

Here’s my Ki15 finished as the Tokyo to London record breaker.

Thank you for another great GB, looking forward to seeing other builds finish.

Lovely job on the Kamikaze. I think I would be constantly distracted by the stork like pitot tube.

Wow Waikong! That’s just superb! Beautiful job- I love the NM finish!

Just posted you and thanks for joining us!

I think that metal finish is weathered just right! Super job, Waikong!

Gary

Thank you Gamers and Gary.

John, I know that Pitot tube will not last a year unless I never pick up that model again, [:)]

Very, very nicely done, Waikong!

The subtle weathering has come out perfectly!

Sorry guys, between work and the times this forum has been glitchy, have not had the chance to get on here as much as I would like. It has been such a challenge just to get on to this forum. Seems to be working now.

I am almost done with my practice run on the Akatsuki and will start on the Shimakaze for this GB.

Fingers crossed that this site/forum will be working when I am posting my progress pics.

Looking forward to it Edwin!

The forum is so awful lately I can’t post half the time. Hopefully we’ll be able to finish up this GB.

Tim just posted that he thinks the solution is in sight, fingers crossed.

Edwin, thank you.

Question, will there be a Japanese Group Build XIV ?

@fjs3 I hope so. I would be willing to host one for 2025 if @Gamera is not able to. Might need some help coming up with the badge though!

Sadly, I finished this one earlier than normal but could not log in and post it. :frowning: This was my A6M2 Academy build for 2024. I wasn’t happy with the kit, compared to other newer tool models. Just my two cents.

WrinkledM, I think I have you posted. I’m not sure how this new site works. I tried to get your photo posted though.

In any case thanks for joining us!

WrinkledM, looks good, what scale is it? I prefer Hasegawa and newer Tamiya molds in 1/48 for the Zeros.

I need to change that. It’s an “Aspire” thermal duration ship. I stopped flying RC about 5 years ago and upgraded to full-sized gliders.

Since you asked, it is the new tool Academy 1/48 scale kit. The decals are a 10 for quality, and the detail is also a 10, but the fit was god awful, so it’s a 3 for fit. My biggest fit / design complaints were the wing tips, landing gear and nose section.
