J2F-6 Duck

I am going to start building my Airfix J2F-6 Duck kit. I dont want to use their decals or navy paint scheme. It is to hard for me to paint in that small 1/72 scale because i am a beginner. Does anyone have a link to any good pictures of the j2f-6 variant painted in one color such as intermediate blue (was the plane ever painted this way) with a white bottom. I found a decal set on squadron.com but they dont tell you anything about them. And if i buy the decal sheet do they tell you new painting instructions?? Any help appreciated

Hey, you could join the Pearl Harbour Group Build with this Duck…! Not sure about the color scheme, though…

Build the 10th Air Rescue Squadron bird flown by the USAF up here in Alaska.

As far as being a beginner…don’t fret…we were all beginners. With a little masking, you could have a great looking model, and bust your way into the advanced world of modeling. You gotta start sometime. Maybe this is the time.

Hey Benne911. welcome to the forum, hope you like it here. as for painting it isn’t as daunting as it seems to make things simple assemble the kit minus the top wing, draw on the demarkation lines with a soft pencil an just treat it like a paint by numbers then attach the top wing when done. Hi Salbando and Cheers for sharing the pics , more reference for my build. thanks
Greg

Squadron’s J2F6 Duck in Action Mini booklet has several pictures of J2F6s in a non-specular Sea Blue uppers and flat white sides and unders as operated by the Coast Guard in Alaska and Greenland (off of Cutters) in 1944 and 1945
