Here’s another oldie from my collection:
It’s Monogram’s ol’ 1/48 F-18 Blue Angels kit, sprayed Testor’s Model Master Navy Blue from the rattlecan. This one was built around 1995, I think. While setting it up to take pictures, I knocked off the canopy, and you can still see a little wet Elmer’s up front!
As I recall, this kit went together very easily, and fit was great.
I look forward to comments from all you Angels Experts out there!

Nice gloss finish, Brian ! Since you didn’t use an airbrush, were the white landing gear & nosewheel hub painted with a brush? It looks great. I also like the pilot’s head turned in the direction of the camera.
Oh man now I can really be jealous. I started that kit and it is now lying dormant. Even if I finish it, it won’t look that good.

Frank, not the closet, the album! These are pix I took of my stuff before I packed it all up, put it in storage, and moved to Japan all those years ago. Glad you liked Angel No. 4!
Pix, I actually rattlecanned all the white bits (landing gear and gear bays) Testors Flat White (there’s a fair chance it may have been Krylon) and touched it up with a brush. The figure came with the kit, I think. The turned head is a nice feature, eh? Adds a lot of life to the model.
Cassibill, now is the perfect time to finish that Angel! Say, is the figure with the turned head from this kit?

No actually, Brian. I started the figure dio. in between the Hornet and the figure went quicker and forced the Hornet done on the work list. (Closest to done on top., unbuilt at bottom.) The Hornet is even still back at the farm the subassembies untouched in ages, along with my warhawk. I had to send for a replacement lower fuselage( split warped and melted, the rest fine???) and never got back to it. It is listed as 5, I think.

it sounds like you & I have more in common I have all my built kits in storage too, and I have alot that where purchased on EvilBay in my closet right now and I got this itch so bad to start to build but I don’t have the room for display,

I’m no expert on the Blues’ Hornets, but aren’t the gun muzzel and gun gas vent holes on top of the nose faired over in some way for their show birds? I could be wrong, and its certainly not meant as a criticism toward a beauty of a model. It just sort of stood out at me.

Upnorth, I think you’re right about the gun muzzle and vents. I built that pup straight out of the box without putting eye to reference at all!
I’d like to do the new 1/32 Academy as an Angel. I understand it would take a few mods to make it the model the Blues fly, but dang, it’d be cool!
I feel the same as you do about the Academy 1/32 Hornet, J-Hulk.
I’d love for them to issue it as an “A” variant with Canadian, Australian and perhaps U.S. Navy aggressor decal options in it.
I’d also like to see some aftermarket decal sheets for European and Kuwaiti Hornets made for that kit if they havent been produced already
