I have purchased 2 iwata eclipse hp-cs airbrushes in the past few years.
They work great, however both of them ended with the same problem and no one has been able to tell me why this happened…
They blew a hole in the solder joint of the cup…just by normal operation..
After the 2nd one did it I dont think I will be buying another Iwata airbrush.
i have been airbrushing for over 15 years, so this is not some newby trying to figure out a basic problem…is this a design flaw, anyone??
I’ve never heard of this nor has it ever happened to my eclipse or any other airbrush for that matter. Have you tried contacting Iwata? I’ve never delt with their customer service but I’ve read about them rebuilding brushes that didn’t work properly for customers. I’d give them a chance to help you out and find the cause.
I own multiple Iwata airbrushes, including two of the HP-CS models. The HP-CS was the first one I bought 15 years ago. I have had a few problems with all of them, although nothing such as you describe. Most of the issues I have encountered are likely self-inflicted, such as not cleaning thoroughly or damaging either (or both) the nozzle or needle. I’ve had them to the point where they would not spray anything no matter how deeply I cleaned them.
I’ve sent all but one of them (a brand new cheaper one that I keep in reserve) to Iwata for servicing. I would certainly send both in to them. You’ll need your purchase year and where you purchased it from (not a receipt, and I will say they have never requested any physical verification).
