[BH]I have a tamiy p-47 D and my glue totally ate away all the plastic around the engine cowl and its ruined![V][sigh][:(] [BH] [censored][soapbox][banghead] [B)][xx(] I hate myself I hate myself AHHH!
sorry to hear that! Is there ANY hope of repair?
Is it salvagable? If you can pry it off, you can order a new sprue from Tamiya to fix that.
No, its not repairable
The plastic practically just turned to liquid[BH] I did salvage the cockpit and wings but thats it. Maybe I can use them when im ready to pick up the pieces and try again. BTW it was testors glue in a red tube. What kind og glue do you guys use?
how much did you use half the tube ,i always use that stuff and never came across anything like that, not to say that it couldn’t happen.but that is aweful it happened i do feel your pain.i did just pick up some tamiya ultra thin it does work nicely but i think it’s not strong enough to hold large segments together

If it’s THAT bad, turn it into a diorama of a battle-damaged plane that crash-landed and ground-looped before flipping over. Just a thought.
I may have an extra 47D cowl in the spares box. I’ll look when i get home.
Oh dude! and i thought I was having a bad couple of months…
Go to www.tamyiausa.com and send an email to their customer svc. I would be willing to bet they would replace the damaged parts.
I’ve been using this for years, and have loved it. There still are times when I use CA, but I haven’t owned a tube of Testors in awhile. Not saying there’s anything wrong with it, I’ve just found Tenax a lot easier to use, and a lot less likely to warp the parts if I have an accident!!
I feel your pain brother. I was about two seconds away from slamming my Revell 1/48 110 g agianst the wall because of horrible fit problems. I have about 40 hours invested in time wise installing cutting edge wing panels engines flaps leading edge slats and control surfaces only to find out the wings fit like total %$#^ to the body! Now I am looking at another 10 hours of filling and sanding just to mount the wings! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Time for a Tamagawa build to boost my confidence and add to my fleet. Hang in there brother we live to fight another day!

| How much glue did you use?Remember that with liquid or tube cement, the less that you use the better!First check to make sure that the parts fit corectly then apply a small amount with a toothpick. In the case of fuselage seams Liquid cement applied sparingly with a fine brush works well, just tilt the fuselage so that the glue flows through capillary action along the entire seam. |

Very sorry to hear of your trouble, I know what it’s like. I would definately change the glue you use, it should’nt be melting plastic to that extreme.
Try revell contacta, I’ve been using it for years, always worked for me.
I am sorry to hear about your P-47. I used to use the same glue and I had the same problem once. I put a small drop on the inside of a wheel on my B-25J and it turned into a liquid puddle[sigh] and then hardened. I use plastruct liquid cement now though because I did not want that to happen again.
Sorry again
Chris
Sorry- thought I had one in the spare parts, turns out I didn’t.
Ive contacted tamiya and some parts are on the way! I was able to savage the complete wings and cockpit so I can still use them. The whole part of the fuesalauge where where it was attached to the cowl was melted and as was the cowl, so the fuesalage was ruined too. I dont have a cam so I cant post any pic or I would.[oX)] Hey JWB thank for the offer for those parts.
If it’s just the cowling area that’s bad, you could maybe try to make a crashed/destroyed P-47 diorama out of it?

hands him an M-80 I just happen to have one of these …
M-80? Firecracker? You want me to blow it up?[D)][xx(]
