It's getting HOT in here...with pics

Aloha everybody,

Here’s a few pics of a Bf109F that I did for a GB…that ended in October of last year! Better late than never…right?! It’s a Hasegawa 1/48 Bf109F-4 with a Tamiya Kubelwagon added in for giggles (the first pic is a progress pic…which is the way it sat on the bench for about 8 months):

Thanks again, everybody, for all the support!

Chris

Aloha Chris,

Stunning… simply stunning my friend… Over all appearance is right on…!! It’s never too late…!!

What did you use to weather the 109 as well as the Kubelwagon?? Also what did you use to represent the sand? Any weathering done to the base?

Geez, not sure what else to say but Wow… Ok would you by chance have any pix of the interiot?

So far I have all of the quarter scale vehicles by Tamiya that would fit into the airfield scene…!!

Again, sweet build my friend and thanks for sharing!!

Man…that’s beautiful…the base really adds to the reality of the dio.
Lovely little 109…very nice.

Great looking 109. Maybe just a bit too semigloss for the desert I suspect but it’s probably just the way the flash is hitting the subject. Colors look right on the money. Terriffic.

Outstanding work Chris! Color, weathering, base, vehicles, and such look just right. Very well done! [tup]

Beautiful all around. And welcome back.

Nice one, Chris…you’ve been away for a while! Welcome back!

Another beauty, very nice little dio. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

That’s a great vignette, I love the combination of the Kub with the 109.

Sweet looking build you got there.

Thad

…the well done figures really put it over the top!

Love it!

Thanks everybody!

Butz, I weathered the usual way with preshading then panel washes with thinned oils followed by a very thinned spray of Tamiya Buff and finished with some MIG Africa Earth. The base is a mix of Citadel sand and Woodland Scenics Buff Ballast. I tied everything together with various Tamiya earthtone paints (don’t ask me what colors…my memory ain’t what it used to be) and a sprinkling of MIG Africa Earth.

dcaponeII, you know, I think you got a point there. I may just have to shoot a quick coat of flat. Thanks for the tip!

Mucker, Rick…how’ve you guys been?! Glad to see someone holding down the fort!

Thanks again, everyone for your time!

Aloha,

Chris

Aloha Chris,

Ah now that sounds pretty simple to do…!!! O’ yeah… What colours did you use to tie in the base with again… LMAO[:P] No worries my friend…!!

Again sweet build and thank you for answering my question… Much appreciated

to all!! I especialy like the figures!!

Nice work!
Love the sand base.

A great tribute to a great pilot

That’s some fine work. The dio display is top notch.

Great display & weathering it top notch[tup] Yellow 14 is a great plane, just finished reading about Captain Marseille. Wonder what his score would have been if he made it to wars end?

Excellent work indeed!!![bow]

Chris- Most impressive work, really, really good stuff! [bow]

One minor nit-pick, your sign read “1942” rather than '41.

Chris,

a very nice work ! I am impressed with the aircraft quality and the whole diorama - its just great ! I just started to prepare myself into something like you did, however on a bit less sophisticated scale [:)]

BTW. I am building Spitfire Mk IXc flown by Stanislaw Skalski in Africa. According to the book of Bohdan Arct (who flew in Skalski Circus in 1943) Stanislaw Skalski shut down your pilot. He described it as a difficult fight.
