The initial painting is done. No more delays. I’ll have to assemble the wing fold now. UGH!! I thought you’d all like to see how it’s coming before I risk the finish on assembling the wing fold.

She’s lookin good! Good luck on the wing fold.
She’s got WINGS!!! Great piece of engineering by Alley Cat. Can say much for the modeler’s skill but any faults you find are mine and not the resin kit’s fault. Lot’s of trimming and tricks to get everything lined up. If you squint it might all even look straight.

DC, shes looking good!! Looks straight to me, and I`m not squinting either, at least not more than usall !!
Thanks for the comment. I’ve been looking at it so much this afternoon it’s starting to make my eyes cross. Now I’ve had to make a jig to hold it upside down to add the bomb bay and gear doors and struts. I didn’t want to bother until I was sure I could get the wings on.
I’m trying to finish it for IPMS San Antonio coming up on the 16th. We’ll see if I can make it. (I almost typed “see if I can pull it off” but with wings like those I don’t want to use that phrase!!)
Nice job! Looks like you are well on your way to completion on this one. Man, that wing assy looks fragile AND complicated!
It’s not quite as fragile as it looks. I left the wing fold arms off of the model until I had secured the outer wings to the middle section. The I was able to be sure to get a good bond for the fold arm on both wings. The support rod is also CA’d to the underside of the upper wing.
I bad bounce on the way to San Antonio and it’s probably had it though. We’ll see.
Good luck! Neat-o job so far. So, the propellor(s) go on after the fuselage is put together? How is it secured? Will they spin? …I see many ‘in-progress’ photographs depicting that assembly sequence and I’ve been wondering ever since.
Nonetheless, It’s a great job on a wonderful and strange airplane…
The twin contra-rotating props on this kit have individual blades and I didn’t want them to get damaged. I’ve left the finish prop assembly until now. There is a large pin that fits into the hole in the front. It will be no problem to use a little clear parts cement to secure it in place after I finish up weathering, exhaust staining, and some chipping in the right areas.
Thanks for your compliment. I apprciate the support as do all who post here I’m sure.
Here’s the finished article. 1/72 scale Trumpeter kit with Big Ed set plus FAA Bomb Bay and Ordinance and an Alley Cat wing fold set.

You know, this whole build, I didn`t realize this is a 1/72 scale!! Makes it that much more interesting. Thanks for sharing…
