Hey all, just had another thing to say. Have you ever bought an armor kit and saw everything was better than you expected and then take one look at the treads and go mad?! [:(!] I bought Dragon’s Tiger II kit that was realesed in January and man the thing is good! [8D] But I knew it was all too good and then I finally saw the catch. The treads were mangeled! [:(!] It’s kit number DRA 6189. The detail on the treads are excellent, it’s just the treads that have the teeth are mared and ripped with ejector pin marks! Anyway the point of this thread is too see who has done this kit, or any kit that seemed great but was dissapointed by the treads. How did you fix it?
carefully shave off the pins?. never really had that prob with the dragons i’ve built. PzIII, M46, T34-85, BMP, ZSU23-4M
Spares box or after market. Of course you could just break out the putty and sanding sticks, but as I’ve said in other threads, most of the time I’m too lazy for that.
Good luck on fixing the tread problem.

Thats kind of my deal, I just think of all the work I would have to do to fix the marks and I would be able to aviod the problem with AF treads.
i have an airfix 1/650 hms fearless, the left bow piece didin’t curve inwards fo the bow is split i know now i could have used elastic bands or clamps), the only other problems i had was with my trumpeder t-72…grrrrr glue dosn’t stick to plastic…grrrrrrrrrrr…must not smash…
a bit off topic but
has the kit got a gun breach in the turret?
Worst armor I’ve had is the ESCI 1/72 Jadgpanzer IV. The teeth on the drive sprockets were too thick to fit in the holes in the link and length tracks, and they were too wide at the bottom of the tooth. I had to shave each tooth both in width and profile. Then I still had to open up the holes in the treads. I finally got them on, but they are a mess. I really hate this kit!
I have the new DML Porsche King. I noticed the tracks and saw that they had ejector pin marks on the inside face of the links (the ones they did for the Elefant are the only ones I’ve seen where they didn’t do that). I didn’t notice if the guide teeth were messed up or not. I’ll have to take a look.
How about mud? Lots and lots of mud…
I am going to try indy tracks for the first time soon, and now i am scared…
Matt
Toss em’ over the fence and go fruilmodel or modelkasten ( fruil if you don’t want to pull all of your hair out in the process of building !) I hate the ejector pin fix on dragon links , BLAHHHHHHHH!!! They all suck !
The Marder I just finished with had melted places all down the insides of the tracks, lucky for me they happen to fall right where the road wheels did so problem solved.
Hmmm,
I do have the kit and will have to take a closer look at it.
Thanks for the “heads-up”
PS…Sorry about the find. I’m sure replacements will be out for the kit soon.
I want the Henschel turret version, hope that the treads don’t contain this problem.
Mud, the great cure-all. Save time and money - make mud!
