Searching around the internet, I found out that at one time a vacuform 1:72 Ju 290 kit was produced. I don’t know what company, or price, or anything. From what I could see, what makes it important (for me, anyway) is that it is the only kit of this aircrat I found that allows for multiple versions, most importantly the clear-nosed A7. I was just wondering if anyone had this kit, and could tell me more information about it.
My mindset when writing this is this- I’m making Revell-Germany’s Ju 290 right now. (Okay, a couple of them. See sig.) I thougt it might be really cool to make a clear nosed A7 varient. Revell’s kit only has the A5. I was hoping if anyone here had this kit, and wasn’t too attached to the clear nose, (and could get away with building it without) I was wondering if I could use it. Like I said, I know very little about this kit. As far as I know, you have to use the clear nose. And face it, there isn’t a good chance anyone here even has the kit. But then again, it never hurts to try.

i have no information at all about the kit and i know less about the subject matter, but might i suggest vac-forming your own canopy and performing a little surgery if all else fails. vac-forming isnt difficult, and with a saw, surgery should render good results
The Ju290 that you are looking for was produced as vacuumform by Contrails (Sutcliff) and I have the model. I will need to examine it to see if it has the clear nose you suggested. However, I think the suggestion to make your own clear section using either a vacuum forming technique or a pushthrough approach would probably be better as I doubt that the VF kit would have the same dimensional accuracy as the Revell kit.

Belive me, vac forming my own replacement at home crossed my mind a few times. The thing is, the nose shape is too complex for me to reproduce at home. I really need two, but if I can get one, I can use it to make another. Get back to me for details, okay?
If your kit comes with the clear nose as the only option, I could send you the solid nose that came with the Revell kit. Heck, I might throw in the radar that comes with the kit too, although it’s a little chunky for the scale. I don’t really like combining kits like this, but there’s no conversion set for the A-7 versions on the market yet. This is really my only choice.
And if you saw my skills, you would know why I’m now making my own.
If you would be willing to give it up, all I would need would be the clear part and the fuselage extensions from just forward of the windscreen. No gun, not even interior pieces (if there even are any). Those I can make myself. If you’d be interested, I’ll post a pic of just where the Revell parts come apart.
This is just me keeping this up where people can see it. Don’t worry, I won’t do it often.
Sorry, but I plan to build the Ju 290 at sometime in the future so I am not willing to part withe basic components. will check the kit out and see exactly what the parts look like and then give you a feedback and se if there is anything I can supply to you.

I totally agree with you on the fact you want to build it. With a model that large, complex, in-depth, and I’m assuming expensive, of course you should build it! I would only want these parts if it meant you could still complete it. In this case, here are some suggestions:
The easiest would be to see if the kit comes with both the solid and clear nose. I think you said that’s what you plan to do.
Then there’s is the possibility of you sending me the parts, me copying what I need, then I’ll send them back. This way you wouldn’t be losing anything, and I would get what I needed. Would this even be a possibility? If you do, I promise I would handle the parts with the utmost care, and would be wholly responsible for anything that would happen to them.
Then, of course, there’s always those two possibilties that I don’t really want to see.
-The kit doesn’t even come with a clear nose.
-The fact you don’t want to send me any parts. (Which is always your right to reserve.)

Still haven’t gotten around to reviewingthe kit. Too much action at home at this time. I even haen’t spent the time required to get a couple of my in process models painted. More soon.
