Italeri vs Tamiya 1/35 Jeeps??

I am working on a 1/35 WWII diorama and I need a Willys Jeep. It won’t be the main focus, more like an accessory to the basic idea of the diorama, so it doesn’t need to be super detailed. I am trying to weigh the options of buying the new Tamyia Jeep (one driver and no trailer) or getting an older Tamiya Jeep (3-4 figures and trailer) or the Italeri Jeep (3 figures and trailer).

Obviously the NEW Tamiya Jeep is going to be the best one, but of the OLD Tamiya and Italeri kits, which one is better? I’ve only built the Italeri Ambulance Jeep and that was a pretty good kit (in my opinion); so I wouldn’t want anything of lesser quality than that kit.

Any suggestions, opinions, thoughts, or experiences with any of these kits? Pictures would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi ,

For having used those 2 models I prefer the Italeri’s one. The level of detail is better. Many things have been “forgotten” on the Tamiya’s one.

Any way , on each model you’ll have to add some home made details so choose the less expensive one…

The old Tamiya Jeep does not compare to the Italeri Jeep. Probably the best issue of the Italeri Jeep is the rebox by Revell of Germany. It comes with additional mud guards and a machine gun.

At Hobby Lobby, the new Tamiya Jeep is fairly inexpensive. Here is a link to someone who has 40 of the new Tamiya kits and is selling them for $10.
