Italeri Steyr Tractor - AM products for it

Hello,

I was wondering if there were any AM products for this kit. And also, is the new tamiya kit the same as this (Old molds, new box). I have 2 of the italeri’s and am going to build one straight from the box. The second I would like to juice up a bit. I tried to find Friul tracks or MK and I turned up a big goose egg. Any PE for it available? Any help would be appreciated. I am also lookg for books and/or web sites that may aid in scrachbuilding my own details.

Thanks.

Ted. I found the Steyr Tractor RAUPENSCHLEPPER OST (RSO) Fruilmodel P/N: ATL-29 tracks listed with Greatmodels for $34.50 And the ModelKasten tracks with sprockets P/N: MASK33 for $26.95 but are a special order thru Greatmodels for the ModelKasten. I didn’t call to see if either is in stock but these are the p/n’s if that is of any help. Oh, they also have quite a listing of AM parts for the RSO. You could also check those numbers with Hometown hobbies. Hope this helps a little. Semper fi, mike

Mike,

Thanks for the help. I think the Fruilmodel tracks are what I will get. Hometown has them for $30. I want to build the basic tractor, so I will continue to search for a PE set or reference material.

Thanks again.

Hey Mike, when I did a search for stuff based on RSO, I found a really nice Royal Model set (RM-272). Thanks for your input. I was searching under Steyr Tractor and found nothing. They also have a stowage set, but I will pass on it. It’s a bit pricey for what it looks.

Great Ted. Hope to see this build in the future. Semper fi, mike

WW2 Productions does a brilliant resin track set including the paddle track shoes and centre sprocket hubs see:

I have seen these made up and all I can say is they are superb and leave the Fruil for dead, particularly in assembly.

That is a nice little kit, definately needs am tracks. I built the boxier version with the Pak 40.

PetBat,

OOOOO I like those tracks. Do you reckon they ship to the US??

I will order in the morning if they do.

Thanks for the tip.

Tigerman, I agree, it’s a good kit. Just needs a little tlc. It’s also very different from the usual fare.

Ted, sure do. Lots of guys in this Forum have used other WW2 production tracks. They ship to whoever will pay for 'em!

Cheers

Ted you can check out this site.Punch up www.thebarrelstore.com they have alot of aftermarket parts that are very well priced. The are out of Canada.Digger

Heres a site I found about the Steyr. The only problem is that I couldnt enlarge the photos. www.clubhyper.com/reference/rsoph_1.htm Hope this helps. Bryan

Thanks digger, I will look their sit over tonight. Never hurts to save a buck or two.

PetBat, I am figuring out how to get the money to them. Emails are a bit delayed, but I plan on ordering those tracks. Thans for the info.

Bryan (Falcon) I agree, it looks like a really good site, but the pics don’t work for me either. I will bookmark it for later in case they get it fixed. Thanks for the reference.

Wow a lot has changed sinse I built that kit in the 80’s it was a pretty nice kit then and now with all this AM stuff maybe one day I’ll do it again.

Let me know if you do cpichilly, we’ll exchange trials and triumphs.

I actually have a dio in the planning stages and it was going to be a soft skinner, do you know if they had steyrs around the time of the falaise gap? There will probably be 3 vehicles total and around 10-20 figures (American and German) so it will be the largest dio Ive ever completed. I actually have 1 figure mostly painted and one assembled, although this sounds like Im getting ahead ofn myself these are 2 key figures in the dio and Im trying to keep the original Idea in focus.
