Classic Sherman tank kit. For a long time, this was the best thing going. It more closely resembles a late/post war tank. Some grumbles regarding the “step” in the gun tube. Apparently they used a display tank that had a patched together gun tube and copied the error.
Wow that was quick and informative! I just did a quick run through the Patton Museum and still need to develop my “research” photos. I will have to pay better attention to the barrel.

Nice replacement barrel available from Jordi Rubio … reasonably priced too.
Should also mention that the tracks are notoriously stiff. When you assemble the VVSS bogies, make sure you glue the suspension arms in place. If you do not, the arms of the first and last bogie will “rock” towards the idler wheel and sprocket.
I second the Jordi Rubio barrel #TG-32, it is marketed for the M4A3E8 and M18.
If your feeling really agressive, you could also add some cast texture to the upper hull and turret. The kit parts are way too smooth.
And IMHO the pioneer tools are weaker than the ones supplied with the Tamiya Shermans. But that’s personal preference.
Otherwise, a very good kit.
All good info guys. Where can I get the AM gun tube Ron or Robert? Latch, I have some pioneer tools from another field tool shop, but it is Italeri as well. Who else has goodie kits with tools of the proper girth… no pun intended.

After market tools are kind of pricey, but when I use them for special projects I use “Collector’s Brass”. You can get Rubio tubes just about any where, I’ve had good luck with R&J Products’ online store.

Spamicus gave you the advise I would have.
Formations has a resin update set for the M4 that includes the tools and many other cross-over peices that you could probably use. It lists for $20 which as far as AM itmes goes, isn’t too bad at all.
