I really like the old Italeri kits (built many in my teens) and have seen some positive discussions about the brand lately. I thought it would be fun for newbies to expand into this often forgotten manufacturer and for us old chaps to pull one out of our stash. The brand is relatively inexpensive too, great for those on a budget. I have the Marder III H that has sat in smooshed box for some time and it looks like a pretty straightforward build. I will probably build OOB. I’m getting the bug to build again. Anyone care to join me?
I was thinking early September or October when members will be done with the all the yardwork and honeylists. That includes me as well. [}:)]
I have iteleri 105mm, 155mm howitzers, DUKW and some other amphivious vehicle (I think it is called buffalo) and an Elefant. Would love to build these at some point, but have not had an opportunity to do so. I’ll also build OOB as well. Don’t know which kit will be built, but will let you know as soon as I decide.
I’ll see if I can squeeze it into my schedule. I have completed only one Italeri armor so far (Oh how I hated those stiff Sherman vinyl tracks that literally broke into pieces by themselves…[:D]) so I want to try another one.
LOL. Well, I’ve been admittedly idle for the past year, except helping my son. So building and the GB thing are going. I really was sad at missing the KV build.
I’d like to do this as my first GB, I just got the 1/35 SD.KFZ 234 4 7.5cm Panzerjaeger. I don’t know If I’ll be able to hold on that long though I’m itching to get into that kit [:D]. could you put it foward 1 month, if someone else says something as well not just for me though. I’m probably 60% in
I know how you feel Will. I’m still thinking that the participation level will increase in the Fall though. You might want to think about a 234 GB, though it might have been done. Maybe you’ll have to get another Italeri kit. hehehe
I think the Testors/Italeri yellow box kits were some of the first high-quality armor kits readily available to the American youths. For the most part, I thought they were superior to the early Tamiya kits of the time. My favorite was the M4A1 Sherman followed by the Willys Jeep. Both still hold up well even today. I remember snatching up the M24 Chaffee when it first came out.
I’ve got several yellow box Testors kits that I could crack open for a build.
I have an Italian M13/41 or what ever it was waitng at home. This could be a nice break from the detail laden kits of today. Think dragons 3 in 1 kits. LOL

The “Italeri Itch” seems to be growing! I just started one of their 234/2 Puma kits on a whim…and also secretly hoping that it triggers a DML issue announcement to go with their /1 and /4 recent releases. [:D]

Wbill, I got the Puma in a lot I bought from a guy. It’s almost built, except it was missing the instructions. Ron was so grateful to email me the plans to his 234. I might finish it for fun and start off the GB with it. I will also build the Marder as my real contribution. I’m liking the interest, so I’ll start an official thread.
From what I remember, it’s superior to the Tamiya version. It seems a fitting choice. [;)]
Anymore feedback on time? I’m thinking 4 months for the build. After all they aren’t 3 in 1’s. LOL Most have no indy tracks either (though you could go AM)
