Is there any place on the internet or somewhere else that has the 1/48 Italeri AC-130U? I have run searches and looked on numerous sites but just can’t seem to find it in stock. It is an expensive kit but I would really like to build it. Anybody have any info?
There’s no interior in the AC-130U kit so couldn’t you work with the CH-130J that is currently available at Squadron for $95.40 from Italeri?
Not the same aircraft. The C-130J uses 6 bladed props and Rolls Royce engines, not the 4 bladed props and Allison engines that the AC-130U uses. The AC-130Us first went into operation in 1987, twelve years before the first C-130J was delivered.
I would look towards their C-130H offerings and then go from there. If you aren’t too big into details and want to redesign the props, engines and cockpit (it’s big, I have the 1/48 C-130J Italeri kit) and backdate them, as well as scratch the weapons systems (25mm, 40mm and 105mm) and such, then go for the C-130J. $100 is a lot for a kit you’ll be gutting, in my opinion, however.

I have a c-130u and it does have an interior. It has the weapons room and all the weapons. The c-130j is longer tahn earlier versions also, so you may be cutting the use also. just a thought
