I beleive it’s a repop of the 1980’s vintage ESCI kit. I don’t know if Italeri has upgraded or retooled it at all, but the original kit was pretty basic. However, I believe it’s the only 1/48th kit of the type available, so if you want one, go for it.
It is the ESCI kit with new decals. No changes or upgrades have been made to the plastic. The kit has raised panel lines, and minimal cockpit / gear bay details. Worth the $34? That is up to you.
Check the Sprue Brothers web site, www.spruebrothers.com -listed under Super Specials 1/48 Aircraft for $21.99…makes raised panel lines a bit more bearable…
Hopefully the decals will be better than those in the original ESCI issue. In the original ESCI issue, some parts of the decals, including the star on the Israeli roundels were printed in black instead of blue. [:(DD]
Thanks to all that replied. I passed on the kit. I really want a KFIR, I have really liked that bird for a long time, but if it is merely a rebox of an OLD kit…I’m not going to purchase it. I’m an OOB builder.

Dave, I don’t know about the ESCI kit. I built this exact Italeri kit a while back and it did not have any raised panel lines. I was thinking it was a repop of the 90s AMT-ERTL kit (which I suppose could have been a repop of the ESCI kit?). As for the Italeri kit, there were no issues with it build-wise. Decals were fine. Internal detailing is pretty good, although it appears I used some aftermarket belts. Engines were of good quality.

Dave, Check EBay, I see AMT Tigercat kits on there constantly for way less than 34 bucks. I think I got mine for 12 bucks awhile back.Cant help you with a review...havent built it yet. Good luck!..Len
Try Ebay. Not long ago I picked up an AMT 1/48 F7F2 with resin wheels and Eduard detail set for about $25 including shipping. It’s very nicely detailed with recessed panel lines.
Nothing wrong with that kit… Except for the vinyl tire issue, which is easily fixed by painting the ENTIRE hub and leaving no exposed styrene…
Seems that some folks are down on the kit a bit. Don’t know why, I think it’s a fine kit once the rubber wheels are replaced. Fit is good, detail is good. Only game for 1/48th.
The Dash 2/2N is also a great kit… THe only thing “wrong” with the Dash 3 is that the decals on mine were slightly out of register on the Star & Bars… There was a little white showing at the top of those… Solved it by cutting the blue field out completely, which is perfectly fine on the blue version… If you do the Yellow one, just trim 'em…
If you passed because of what a couple folks said here, you missed a great kit… If you passed because of the price, good call… You can get it for less…
So AMT will suffice? I’m primarily an OOB builder.
