Just looking for opinions on how good or bad this one is for an intermediate builder.
Have heard the Testor’s kit can be a pain, and I suspect they are the same mold.
Yes, they are the same molds, and quite challenging if you decide to do anything beyond OOB. I have one stalled because I lost my drive on improving it. It’s a good 2-3 footer build OOB, but if you want to dress it up, be prepared for lots of work.
Thanks stik. Only add ons would be the eduard pe pit set of panels, have that one on the way to hold on to. Also a couple sets of their alq71’s.

I have no idea what the Hasegawa RF-4C looks like, but it can’t be as challenging.
I have the Hase RF4E in Japanese markings in the closet of doom, about half done. IIRC it didn’t have much in the way of issues going together, but there were several differeces between the C & E, mostly in wing and stabilizer configuration. It might be the E/J kit, been too long.
Haven’t looked at the C/E offerings to see if they have the correct parts for either.
I would love to see Revell Germany upscale their 1/72 RF-4E kit. That one is sweet, complete with cameras and mounting framework for in the camera bay. I don’t know why the 48th scale RF-4 does not get such respect currently in kit form.
Goldhammer, if you decide to do the RF-4C, I’ve got some good pics of one that I took at Ramstein. Poor thing had been collecting dust in a French hardened aircraft shelter for 20 years before I got the pics, but still got some good ones.
Stik, maybe in a few years. The new B coming might stir the companies to action. Would love to see a C from either Tamiya or Revell in 1/48.
Eagle, have the old Italeri coming, and a set of Fox One decals for birds at Udorn when I was there. Be interesting to see your pics. Somewhere I have a lot of slides of Phantoms from my time at Udorn in the 70’s. But none of the pits, since there was a lot of classified going on then.
That would be cool to see those slides. Here are most of the pics I took on my first trip to Ramstein in 2014. Was there every couple of years to do contract work on C-21s. No pit pics either…probably wouldn’t have been much of anything left in there anyway.
Poor old lady. Do I ever remember the inboard pylons. They lost enough pods in vietnam, they took the charges out of the mount bolts. When back in the states, weapons said, no explosives, and since the only thing they carry are pods, give them to ECM shop. We wound up with them to do the care and feeding. But when the bolt failed NDI, it made a nice billy club to keep along side the car seat[:D]
