Italeri 1/35 LCM Help!

I am thinking about getting the Italeri 1/35th LCM Landing Craft. It comes with 3 crew figures and 6 (DML) 29th Div. Infantry figures. And markings for Normandy and Iwo Jima.

I read in a review that the 28th Div. figures included are the DML Kit 6211 - 29th Division Infantry Omaha Beach D-Day 1944.

So am I correct in that if you build the LCM with Iwo Jima markings I cannot use the 29th Div. figures with it?

If not, what figures (DML, Tamiya, etc…) should I look for that would be appropriate for Iwo Jima in 1944?

Dragon has a set of Iwo Jima Marines (set #dr6038). GreatModels has them in stock for $5 and change.

Of course, you need 60-100 troops if you are doing a craft full of infantry.
I would do a jeep or truck or some cargo. These were more normally carried.
In fact, while researching this for a D-Day build (72nd scale version) seems that there were only a couple of these craft used in the initial waves, at least on the American beaches.
