italeri 1/35 hmmv avenger referance help needed

hey guys, i’m kinda new here.(lurking for a while, first post) and well i need your help.

the back story: about ten years ago i was in the army as a 27T avenger repairer, and while i was in i searched high and low for an avenger model to no avail. fast forward nine and a half years i was walking through my local shop looking for a sci-fi kit(my normal model preference) and what should i spy on the shelf on accident… an italeri 1/35th avenger missile system!!the kit overall detail is nice. a little out dated but nice. the truck detail is actually awesome, as is the outside of the avenger.(the ecu/ppu on the back needs updating) the interior of the avenger turret on the other hand is atrociously bad!! as are the avenger mods done to the cab of the truck. actually most details are missing in this regard. needless to say the kit came home with me and is now in the construction phase.

my problem: ten years ago when i saw so much of the avenger it made me sick i didn’t think to get reference photos for later when i did find an avenger kit. and now that i have the kit the only reference that i can find is on the exterior of the cab and the avenger,( i have like a gig of these type of reference) the areas on the model that are already good. what i need is help finding reference of the interior of the avenger , the missile pod(i found some 1/35 stingers and it just screams to be done open now), and the interior of the avenger truck cab specifically the rcu. i’m hoping one of you may have a pic of these areas or might actually still be in and have access to an avenger and could get these views for me. or maybe know some one who could. i realize there are opsec details to consider here and i would not want any one to get into trouble. as far as i know the only piece of the avenger that was classified was the iff interrogator. but to cover yourself ask your platoon sgt. for promition first.

thanks to every one in advance

oops double post

i also need any suggestions on this build from any one that has done this model before. especially if you have done an engine bay for it, since it has no engine really but has a hood you can open. and also if you scratched the storage box on the rear of it how did you do the details like the retaining pins? again i appreciate any info you can provide.

You could get a tamiya Humvee and cut the avenger parts from the italeri to the tamiya for a better fit. Tamiya is also likely more detailed. As for the cab i’d like to say you’ll have to do alot of scratchbuilding

oh, i knew this was going to require a lot of scratching involved in this kit. i figured the engine bay, the remote control in the cab, the interior of the avenger, and the interior of the missile pod. were going to be the worst areas. the engine bay isn’t to bad, i found great references for the motor.(on ebay of all places) the remote unit in the cab again found good references, won’t be to tough. the problem areas are going to be the interior of the avenger(one decent pic of the system looking into the turret from above) and the interior of the missile pod(on really bad picture from news paper print)

so has anyone here done this model? any pointers?

this is the picture i have of the interior of the avenger. i’m hopping someone out there has one of the back wall of the thing. the area where the “ecu/ppu”, and the pod tube is.

Raser, dont know if this will help. If not mentally slap me a shot. Couple of shots of the system

mi carbine, thanks i had a lot of those all ready. but there were a few i didn’t have yet. i appreciate it. by the way if found some great reference myself today. after months of searching my brother walks in today and asks what i’m looking up. i told him, and he suggest youtube. i feel so stupid!!! i looked up avenger got some decent referance, then i looked up the mos # and wha-la i got this:

what amazing reference!!! as soon as i figure out how to copy these off of youtube i’m going to star doing screen caps. does anyone out there want a copy? evidently this wasn’t a very popular model to do? i’ve been on a couple military modeling sites and no one seems to know what they are much less have done one. it seem to be the same here. but if some one wants a copy of the reference that i have just let me know and i’ll send it on my way. plus i’ll be posting my progress here from time to time. so keep an eye out!

Cool beans man, nothing like an MOS video.

Bob

is there any where i could post all the reference photos that i have? that way if some one in the future does one of these they can find shots of everything they need.
