On Saturday I picked up a Hobbycraft 1/32 scale RFC Camel, and I think I’m hooked on WWI aircraft in 1/32 scale. The smaller scales are just too much for me to cope with when it comes to rigging. My question is, are there other companies out there besides Hobbycraft, Roden, Battle Axe, that make WWI aircraft in this scale or larger? Or should I look to scratch-building what I want in those scales?
Thanks to all who reply.
With best regards,
Steve Macka
Those are the only companies I’ve run across. I think some of the hobbycraft kits may be the old revell releases, but they’re still OK. Try Roden if you want a triplane or an albatross. Nice kits. I still work in 1/72nd scale because that’s the only way to get some of the more unusual kits. Rigging ain’t so bad since I discovered nylon thread some years ago. also works for 1/48th, but for 1/32, steel (piano wire) is the way to go.
Academy and Special Hobby also have a couple each. The best thing to do is to go to the large internet stores like squadron.com or greatmodels.com and do a search to see what is available in those scales.
