Remember when they were $20-25? I just don’t see enough gadgets in this 256 piece kit to warrant the high $$$. I think Dragon is safe for the moment.

…YOIKS!..
But it comes with both the upper and the lower hull, and a FULL set of tracks!
I think I’ll be passing on that one somehow. It’s a stupid decision really because I honestly might have picked one up for a fun build if it was priced the same as their KV series.
How about the $169.95 MSRP for the 1/32 F-100 ? Trumpeters recent pricing on their kits is getting plain out rediculous. I refuse to buy them at these prices. I think we need to gang up like the Car Guys have done & boycott usery type pricing.
Regards, Rick.
Looks like their getting the hang of capitalism.
You know, honestly, Dragon has gone up a bit in recent years too. However, they bring the extra goods to the table. Not to mention they are actually becoming more affordable then Trumpeter. Pretty sad, because Trumpeter is bringing some eclectic kits to the table.
Yes, those $25 KV’s were a steal.
I was still choking on this one;

My LHS wants the full $120 list on this…ouch! [B)]
Yeah, isn’t that crazy! And you get 1-piece tracks to boot!
Actually Trumpeter’s prices here in Australia are comparable to other companies.
For example, the much vaunted Tamiya 1:32 F-16CJ retails here for around the $250 price tag while the Trumpeter 1:32 Su-27 RRP is $180. Hasegawa 1:32 Aircraft are upwards of $80 for WW2 stuff in their 1:32 range and in 1:48, $80 for post war era jets is common.
With armour, the situation is not a lot different with Tamiya 1:35 kits retailing around the $70-$85 range. Dragon kits are similar in price. Trumpeter armour comes in close to both Dragon and Tamiya.
I find it best these days to buy direct from Asia, cutting my cost almost in half and that includes postage.
[(-D] It’s the lead they added to 'em… .
…that’s what it is…

Would you care to check how much mark-up your local retailer is adding to the actual cost? I am making this point because Trumpeter kits are selling between $15 -$25 for the regular 1/35 kits and about $25-$40 for their special 1/35 kits here. And I don’t think our local retailers will sell Trumpeter kits at these prices if they won’t make money out of it.
Just a thought…
LMFAO
[sigh]Looks like I’m just going to forget about the 1/16 Tiger II. [BH]
Actually, that E100 IS a rather BIG kit!
Don’t forget this too–look at the obscene price of a barrel of oil these days. Styrene takes oil to produce. We may be seeing these prices because of the price of oil?!
Anybody sell their Hummer yet?
Good point on the oil. Let’s not forget that the dollar is tanking in the world too. Remember when the dollar was worth more than a Euro? I think it’s 1.5 Euros to the dollar now. Whoa is us.
Oh man! Don’t even get me started on the Euro! The stinkin’ thing is KILLING our dollar!
When I went over there this summer, I changed $200.00–and got back a miserable 162.00 Euro with the exchange fee!
When Clinton was in office, this kind of exchange would regularly return like E220-230 Euros. Life was sweet back then!
You have to go to like, the Czech Republic to get any good shopping done now! It won’t be long though, I’m sure, until that currrency overtakes our puny greenback! [banghead][banghead][soapbox][censored] AAAAARGHHH!!!

Just as the Aussie dollar starts to get to parity with the USD (which it was before the stupid Hawke government floated it 25 years ago) your postage rates go north!
Actually, when I was in LA in 2001, the exchange rate was 0.42USD to one AU, I still spent a LOT of money at Brookhurst etc…
Well, guys, the Chinese government has kept their currency tied to the $$$ to keep a favorable trade surplus for them, because when it floats free, and it will, we’ll stop buying every boat of stuff down to the keel, before it leaves Shanghai, just like THAT!!!
Seems to me someone put up a post abt easing off on Chinese products a while ago…
Imagine that Academy or Tamiya or Hasegawa or … has been selling product at an honest price for the last couple of years while China dumps Trumpeter and Dragon on the market to put them out of business. I hope that they survive.
