Is this a new kit or a reissue?

I was recently at my LHS and was looking at a leaflet of new Italeri releases for this year and noticed a 1/72 Lockheed Hudson III listed.

The Hudson is one of my favorite WWII aircraft (love the lines) but the only 1/72 kit of it I’ve ever known is the ancient Airfix kit. I’ve battled it twice before and don’t care to do so again.

Does anyone know if this is a new tooled kit by Italeri or just a rebox of the old Airfix?

According to the April edition of SAMI, it is a new tooling!
Produced in cooperation with MPM, the MPM version, kit number 72518 is to build
a mark 1 or 2. The Italeri version, number 1253, is to build a mark 3 or 4.
They’ve also done a Wellington together (1252/72100)
Got to be better than the Airfix kit in both cases!

This indeed is not the first kit Italeri and MPM have done together. They also did an Fw-189 Uhu.

The Airfix Hudson in 1/72nd is the first kit I ever had. I was too young to do it myself, so my Dad built it up for me while I watched. Least that was the excuse he used at the time! Aahhh, the memories…
