Is there any decals for "Sentimental Journey" offered in the aftermarket?

As the title says, I’m looking for decals for the B-17 “Sentimental Journey”, and more specifically, for the Monogram 1/48 scale kit just reissued about 2 years ago. If they have been offered, but not for that specific kit, I would still be interested in knowing where they are available from and what kit or kits they would be useful on.

Also, please include links for any websites for the decals, I am not a regular aircraft modeler and as such, I do not know the websites. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Any help at all??

I don’t think there are any commercially produced. None showed up via a google search.

This link below from youtube shows a revell/monogram build, 1/48, with what it says are “scratch build [sic]” decals.

On the website below, there was some discussion of producing a sheet with “Sentimental Journey.” Don’t know if it was ever done.

Maybe someone else knows more, but. . .

On the other hand, you might could print your own. There was an article by Don Stauffer in a very recent FSM on this subject. Mr. Stauffer is active in the Forum.

Good luck.

I don’t see any commercially produced ones, either.

If it were me, I would buy the largest size available of the vinyl decals offered here:

www.military-graphics.com/noseart.html

Then I’d scan that into my PC, fine tune the image, and print a new image on decal paper. Hit that a couple times with some decal bonder and you’re done.

One thing I noticed in that link, the gal’s swimsuit is red. In my reference shots from 2007, the nose art babe is wearing a blue swimsuit. I can email you copies of my reference images if you want, but depending on how accurate you want it, that swimsuit color might be a bit of an issue.

—Crap! Just noticed some of those nose art images I linked to are NSFW, if you scroll down a bit. Hope I don’t get banned for that

Thank you both for the replies, and when I seen the plane as it was in between doing flyover duties for the start of the local high school season in Aug 2008, the nose art is also blue, and such the version I will be building.

I did read the article by Mr. Stauffer recently, in the Jan issue on the Beechcraft decals if that is the article you are referring to, and have actually had this as a backup idea since the beginning. The only thing I have been concerned with is the rivet detail showing in the decal, because as I said I’m not a regular aircraft modeler, and will not be doing much on the kits panel line and rivet detail.

Also, I’ll send you a pm with my email address, any reference is always appreciated! I know that while she was on the ground, they were allowing walk through tours, but being around 400 lbs at the time, I don’t even think I could have gotten through the nose door! The only real nice detail pics I was able to take was standing in the open bomb bay!
