Is the Revell Me410 a good kit?

is it a good kit and is there any problems with it?
would it be a good plane to start on or would a smaller plane by another company be a better start?
thanks[:)]

I assume you mean 1/48 scale Monogram/Revell kit. It’s a very nice kit with no major problems. Getting the canopy to fit properly is the only ticklish part I remember. However, it’s not exactly a beginners kit, so if this is your first aircraft build, you might want to start with a single engine fighter before tackling a twin.

Regards, Rick

thanks, i do mean the 1,48th kit
i’ll have a look for another kit

I have yet to build mine, but I can say that it is an excellent kit. Plenty of detail and just the right scale. So have fun and good luck with your build.[:D]

I built it some years ago and it came out quite well. The decals were A-1 and the fit of the parts compared favorably with Tamiya.Like rjkplasticmold said, the canopy is multi-piece and requires some care to assemble but does fit if you fiddle with it!I say go for it!

it’s a very nice kit if your talking about the 1/48 scale one, the detail is like DML/Dragon, Tamiya or Hasegawa kits, and there are options for the versions if your talking about the Pro Modeler kit I know Revell GE had a run of this same kit but with different decals, I’d highly recommend this kit

Great kit…awful decals. And, yes, the two piece canopy is a bit tough to get right, but not impossible.

What was the problem with the decals? On my promodeler ME-410 the decals went on smooth and even with no problems whatsoever. Was yours a Pro-modeler or something else?

Haven’t built one, only seen a few built up and those looked gorgeous. Of the builders I spoke with, two said they had minor difficulties with the canopy as described above and the other had trouble with the engine nacelles.

Anyhoo, in the box the kit is quite nice to look at, good detail etc. As already mentioned, it really does rival Tamiya and the like. I don’t see that you can go wrong with this kit and you shouldn’t have much trouble from what I’ve heard of the few construction issues.

As to the decals, all examples I have of both the ProModeler and Revellogram issues of this kit, but one, have well printed decals. The one bad decal sheet is way off register, which is usually the norm. I guess I lucked out and got some good decals on the rest. I dunno how they perform but I’ll probably find out some day because although I normally don’t use kit decals, I will more than likely have to use these if I build more than one 410. I’ve just one aftermarket sheet for the Hornisse and I’m only interested in one set of markings. But that’s neither here nor there…

Hopefully you’ll enjoy the kit if you decide to go with it…

Fade to Black…

Thanks for the input on the kit, i already have the kit from when it was released way back when, and i just took a look at it the other day
i was going to go to RAF Cosford where they have one, but there 262 had been moved to RAF Hendon so i went there instead
i think im going to do a single prop aircraft first (so i can learn how to hold a delecate model again with out breaking things off)

Mine went on well too. They were also nice and thin. However, my set was VERY translucent. The little yellow shoes look like they were painted on with watercolors. They were also a bit out of register. I fixed what I could with a little brush painting but it’s still noticable. Great kit overall, don’t get me wrong. But the amount of time and effort you gotta put into this one warrants spending the extra $$$ on some AM markings.

EDIT: BTW, mine was the Pro-Modeler boxing.

Captain Caveman hi

i hope it all goes well for you!

let us know what you end up building.

Kind regards,

Nicholas

Jon, one of the well known faults with this kit are the supercharger intakes.

They are oval and point downwards, when they should round, and extend horizontally from the wing.

Best of luck.

Karl

Yep Kg200 is right!I just went down and checked my Me-410 and the intakes do indeed point downward(slightly)and are oval in cross-section.
