Is T Factory a scam?

Seems like it is too me. I sent in my “application” several weeks ago and have received no response. Even emails, or snail mail requests for information are not answered. A visit to the site and you get “no additional membership is being pursued at this time” or some such. So much for the promise of having my membership fee returned in a timely manner if I was not accepted. Anyone else have this happen to them or know of why they have suddenly, seemingly become a tightlipped “secret” private club?

Don

I did notice that their web domain (tfactory.org) was not renewed, but the Armorama webmaster (it hosts the T Factory site) says the site is still up, just the domain was not renewed. Unsure of what has happened to the club’s administrators.

Here’s my stoyr - like you I signed up and nothing. I finally sent a email - no response. Then a week later I got a email saying I got accepted. They also explained to review new members requests once a month in their meetings. So it seems it would take up to 4 weeks just to get reviewed - guess they should put that in bold letters somewhere.

Haven’t said that, i did get my box with notepad, T-shirt, and stein with their logo on it about a week after the email.

It is quite worrisome that they website is no longer up (expired registration), hope its just an oversight on their part. I haven’t got my first issue of Military Modelling yet - hope it starts coming soon. If it does, its really quite a deal for the price.

waikong,

It has been six weeks for me, the no response to emails and a snail mail letter is really bothersome.

You’d think they would have someone on top of this membership thing. . .

IF I get the stuff it would be a great deal for the money. . .IF.

Don

You can go to www.Whois.net and find out the contact information for the T Factory. I check, it has address and phone number for them. Good Luck

Thanks rtodd,

The problem isn’t who to contact or where, but how to get them to respond.

If it does take up to four weeks to get an answer would be alright if that were posted, but this has been going on for almost eight for me and I have yet to even get a rejection. It is a good deal, if you get it, but so far I’m out some cash and not feeling the love.

Don

Don, here’s the email I go from them. They list 2 emails for questions, I’m not sure these are the one’s you used, but hopefully this will get you some answers. Best of luck.

Dear Gentlemen:

It is with great pleasure that I may welcome you to T-Factory. The society board meets one day per month to review memberships and after consideration you have been accepted. Congratulations.

Membership packages have been sent from Cafepress which includes a black society t-shirt, beer stein and society note book. These do take up to 15 days transit in the event you live overseas. As a not-for-profit we must make certain cost-saving measures. You will also begin to receive Model Military International beginning with the November Issue. This will be posted in a separate envelope.

Please visit our society website and post often at: http://www.tfactory.org/

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, Rhodes A. Williams at: Rhodes1@Mac.com or at the society e-mail address: TFactoryHQ@aol.com

Best Wishes

Rhodes

Hey Waikong,

This is the first I have heard of this. What is this ‘t-factory’. [%-)] Color me confused… Review of memberships? T-shirts, beer steins, Military Modeling? Details man! I need details! [:P]

T-Factory is Tank Factory, an armor modeling association that came about during the AMPS fallout a few years back. Their site is hosted on Armorama.com but they did not renew the domain name so the link goes nowhere. The webmaster does state that the site is still up, but without the domain registered, you can’t get to it from the www.

Well, talk about conicidences, I just got a email from Mr. Rhodes Williams of T-factory saying my acceptance was a clerical mistake.

"Due to a clerical error your membership was processed after we had decided not to accept new memberships. I am refunding you your membership fee in full plus Pay Pal fee. "

So I guess the deal is off. Don, hope you get your money back soon. But if you get in, maybe you can tell me why I was blackballed.[V]

At least you got your stuff.

It appears I am being blackballed prior to being accepted and they are keeping my money!!

Not a nice way to treat people intersted in membership. Maybe they have spys on the FSM forums who are letting them know we are not thrilled with the way we are treated? (CONSPIRACY!). I know my application was sent one month prior to the notification that new membership was no longer being accepted. But as I am not a happy camper I will no doubt not be accepted either. . .but then again that would require they notify me!

I feel I am an Atlanta Falcon fan and Michael Vick is leaving the stadium. . .

Don

T Factory is no more.

I received an email from a Mr. Williams to inform me of such. . .now to recover my $$$.

Too bad no one would offer to assist him.

Don

I applied four days ago and recieved my acceptance today, with a promotion. I am to be on the member request board, get paid money and models and learn how to type legitamate sounding rejection letters to those they deem not worthy. Some of you will be hearing from me soon. Now, I wonder where they are getting the money to pay me? Anyway, thanks Don and the others![;)]

Satire fellows. Only satire. [(-D]

Odd isn’t it? Until four days ago T Factory was a real great club with members all over the world and a great web site. . .Makes you wonder.

Back at ya 60[;)]
