just wandering if anybody else out there is into fire equipment /ems stuff besides myself and lizardquig 2? if you are out there would like to hear from you.[:D][:D]
i guess not…
HEY,
I’d like to but i have never really had a chance but i hope you have fun doing it.
Randy
you should try one out sometime, theres nothing more beautiful to me than to see that big red machine roaring down the road and the brave men inside ready to go into harms way, really not to much different than those who risk there lives for ours , who are and have served in the great u.s. military.
Hi FIREMODELMAN seeing as you are into firetrucks you may be able to help me, i am after a model (preferably 1/24th) of the carmicheal commando firetruck known in the british military as the TACR2 it is based on the Rangerover and is a 6X4, is there such a model? also i am going to convert a model Landrover into a fire truck but havn’t decided exactly which version to do yet .
cheers in advance.
Greg
I’d like to but I’am having trouble finding them around here and I’am not big on doing mail order stuff but I guess I’ll have to!
A few years ago I built a Ladder Truck that was an exact copy of the new truck the station I work put into service, IT is still on display inthe station.
hi emt jra, nice to see another firefighter here. You are not the only one that has problems finding them, lucky that you found one like your truck, I don’t think there are any close to any of ours. What kind did you find that your dept has?
Any of you guys see the copy of scale models international that was dedicated to firetrucks or the ones that had a M.A.N firetruck conversion? if you are interested i’ll dig out the relevent copies and let you know the back numbers. don’t know if i have any duplicate copies but i’ll let you know. Greg
hey gregers, the model of the carmicheal does’nt ring a bell, i looked over most of my catalogs ( which dont date back to far) and could not find what your looking into.as far as the landrover that could be an easy conversion with some scratch building, could’nt give to much help on that one though since we dont see those type of units here in the states.as far as the mag goes i’d love to check that out, always looking for new ideas. thanks.
welcome emtjra i am also glad to have another builder with like interests on the forum. as you stated in your post, we dont have a very good selection to choose from do we!! i personaly think this sucks, but thats just my opinion, but anyways, welcome and i look forward to seeing your posts and would like to see some of your work as well.
i’m glad to see this post has finaly grabed someones attention. i know most people on these forums build military items, but the emergency catagory could also be a good addition to these forums.everytime we went to field when i was in the army we always had an ambulance with is, an i was always a regular in the post fire house. just another of my rambling opinions.
Hi guys,
I’m real new to this form. Even though I’m a charter subscriber to FSM, I never picked up on their website until last week. I do build model fire equipment. I still have a few kits laft to build. My main interest is automotive dioramas with an emphasis on emergency service, constuction and agriculture themes. I’m a 1/25-1/24 bigit in my modelbuilding though, and I don’t do military stuff.
Fire truck models in the future for me include a 4700LP Navistar rescue truck and a F550 Ford crewcab CAFS unit (I have the 'Binder but I still need the Ford cab)
Now that I’m here I’ll stay in touch
Carl
welcome, dpty-dawg-ca,always glad to hear from a fellow modeler with the same interests,i too seem to only build emergency type models.i’m currently building a light rescue truck with the new ford cab. i found a testors metal bodied model at hobby lobby a few weeks ago, even though its only an f350, i think i can pass it off as an f550 as far as looks go.keep in touch, and glad to hear from you.
Hey Dave, here’s a link to some nice looking beasties

Greg
hey gregers, thanks for the link. they have some nice looking stuff on that site. the range rover with tandem axel was cool. thanks again.
Hi FMM just happend to be reading through, I’m normally chekin out acft side. Your post reminded me of a Ladder Truck I built as a teen. I think it was an AMERICAN LA FRANCE, don’t remember who made it either. All I have left is an old polaroid, not even a good one. Made me stop and think though, maybe I’d like to try one of those Big Rigs again now that my skills have improved alittle. Thanx for bringing back a fond memory. Bob
hey bob3242, your right the ladder truck was an american la france. made by amt.
sorry about the short post. had to run for a sec, you can still get all 3 of those alf trucks, they were re-issued about a year or so ago, the prices on them are kinda high though. anywhere from 45 to 55 bucks. surf ebay and you can get them for alot less plus you can still get your hands on the original issues. hope you decide to build one. love to see your work. thanks.
