Iron Wind Lizardman Shaman

The LHS started stocking a new, to me anyway, line of Fantasy figures from a Company called Iron Wind Metals. This bad boy caught my fancy and was painted when I needed a break from my usual work on Aircraft. This line of figures are similar to the usual 25mm Fantasy/Gaming figures but appear to be in a much larger scale, about 54mm is my guess. The figure is about 2" high, so if anyone knows the size of a real Lizardman let me know and I’ll calculate the scale more exactly [:)]. Nicely sculpted, one piece metal casting, no assembly required, batteries not included. Painted mostly with Vallejo acrylics and dabs of Tamiya acrylic here & there. Hope you like it.

It looks great, thanks for the look.

Looks good, brings back all my childhood nightmares.

Thanks for sharing

Another awesome one on the forum again how do yall do that?

That is a nice miniature! My wife paint miniatures and she was also impressed.

Dave, Wayne, RedButcher, Woody. Thanks for the comments. Glad y’all liked it.

Woody, I recall a Post of one of your wifes’ 25mm figures and she is a talented painter. Hope to see more of her work.

wow. nicely done.

Wow…excellent job on the painting, Rick!

Regards, Dan

Great job on the painting.

Looks great! top work!

Very nice job. At first I thought it had something to do with Lizardmen of Warhammer fame. The paintjob is magnificent. I keep hearing about Vallejo acrylics, but I’m afraid to try them, don’t know how well they cover, but it has to be better than Tamiya

Hello RJK,
I was wondering! For the lizard’s scales. Did you paint the darker colors first! Then drybrush? the yellow highlights! Then do wash over that!! Basically what I’d like to know is what technique did you use for the scales!! It looks fabulous, absolutely fabulous, darling!! [;)] Thanks a bunch!! [8D][8D] Cheers!!! [8D][8D]

Looks very nice!!

You mentioned using Vallejo paint. Seems to come up a lot in regards with miniatures. How do you like it compared to other paints?

By the way, if you’re looking for more lizardmen to paint, I have 100+ of those little guys waiting to be finished. LOL! [;)]

Joe, Dan, Dwight, littlebird, Zokissima, lilBear, David, Thanks for the nice comments. Much appreciated.

lilBear, for the scales, I first painted it an overall dark green, then mixed in some yellow & dry brushed. When that was dry, I drybrushed again, very sparingly, with pure yellow. Touched up any areas where I got overly enthusiastic with the dry brushing. No washes were used. This technique works well if you have a good casting to work with.

David & Zokissima, I like the Vallejo acrylics very much. They are very opague, especially the whites & yellows. Flow well, cover very well, brush marks level out very nicely & dry dead flat. Water thinning & clean up works well. For small figures they are the best available IMHO. I also use them for painting detail in AC cockpits. For larger figures I prefer to work in oils, but have seen some large figures painted with Vallejo that looked great. BTW, they are also sold under the Andrea label. Identical paint with different packaging.

David, would like to oblige but I’ve got plenty to keep me busy [:)]. All those Lizards & Minotaurs & Dragons & Satyrs, etal, just waiting in line !

Thats pretty cool looking. Everytime I see this thread I think someone os trying to get my atention, glad I finally clicked on it.

Really nice… It has kinda linear movement to it don’t it…I like that.
