Irish Model Soldier Society Show 2009.

Well guys I finally got around to uploading some images of the 51st show held in Dublin Castle.

My Minenraumer got a highly commended.

I took a gold with my Y-Wing fighter.

Scratchbuilt Armoured car.

Don’t know much about this but I thought it looked cool

We had several re-enactment groups and well… it was fun playing with deactivated guns.

Martin with a gun… something not right there.

Ben, a scouse with a gun, thats just plain stupid.

A really nasty experience with giant frozen chickens…Arrrrrrrrrrgh.

Thats Ben and Kevin.

Kevin and Myself.

The party about to kick off in Fitzgeralds.

Ben, Daire, Triona, Richie and myself

Terry.

Congrats on the awards for the Minenraumer and Y-Wing!![bow] Looks like you had a blast with all the models, re-enactments, guns, and chickens. Mmmm…chicken and guns what could be better.[swg] Oh right, armor models.

Congrats on the awards Terry and thanks for posting the pics from the show. [tup] Have to say it is a little bit odd to see US Civil War re-enactors in Ireland but there were many Irish who served in the Union army so there you go! [;)]

Thanks mg.mikael and Bill, we had a blast, in the end it was all about the fun, its great to be able to get together with all the guys and have a whole weekend where the subject is modelling.

Bill as far as I know there are two American Civil War re-enactment groups in Dublin alone and several throughout the Island, and it is true that a lot of Irish fought and died in that conflict.

I don’t know if many people are aware that during the height of the British Empire the British army was as much as 40% Irish and to this day the largest regiment is the Royal Irish, what I mean to say is no matter where there’s a war, there’s usually an Irishman there somewhere and can probably be blamed for starting it, LOL.

There was also the serious side to things as we had visitors from several countries around Europe who are seriously brilliant figure painters, well some are at the top of the game and to be able to see their work in the flesh is really an honour.

Dublin Castle was not cheap to rent for a weekend, even where we were was expensive. Its beautifully preserved in the heart of the city center and that’s where “The Tudors” is filmed, its just stunning.

If anybody seen the film Michael Collins they were looking at the castle for many scenes.

Again Thanks for looking,

Terry.

P.S. if those chickens died from H5N1 A.K.A Birdy Flu, then the end of the world is nigh…

Terry my bro’ !![:D]

Man I swear to god I am so happy for you and your Medals from the contest!![tup][tup]

!http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x100/electrickeeper/Smileys/6c6kj6g.gifwho’s who?

(And I don’t mean the chickens either…)

I might add that a certain Confederate General: Patrick Cleburne of Irish decent, was a pretty popular guy down South. [;)] You are right though, most of the immigrants fought for the North, because that is where the majority of them resided.

Disastermaster, Terry is the guy on the right. ( I think) LOL

Congrats Terry, a couple of well deserved medals. You’re getting me psyched for our local IMPS show in Sep.t at the Evergreen Air Museum in Oregon. Should be fun.

Thanks Tigerman…
