What T-72 version did the Iraqi’s have? M-1? M-2?

The Tamiya kit is good for an OOTB regular army Iraqi T-72M1. Some scratchbuilding would be necessary to turn it into a Republican Guard vehicle.
I believe Dragon makes one, but am not sure which is better.
