But, according to MapQuest…it’s approximately a 32 hour drive to Syracuse (not including the 2 hours of being lost when I arrive) so I’m afraid I’m just gonna have to hear about this event after it’s conclusion…[V]
I’ll be doing a slide show-type presentation on many of the models you’ve seen here, and also doing the “OilDot” method in person on a DML Jagdtiger model. Should be fun! We’ll post pictures, I’m sure!
Sounds like a great opportunity for those in the neighborhood to drop in and see the doog in person and get a great demonstration to boot! [tup] Makes me wish NY wasn’t so far away. [(-D]
I wish that I could make it also… I guess that I would be about 500mi. closer than Wbill, so that would only be about 1,336.3mi. one way. Edited and started a new post.
Say Doog, have you ever thought of doing a modeling DVD of a project from start to finish?
Swanny in the aircraft forum put some together and I’ve found both to be incredibly helpful. I just need an armor version rather than a wingie-thing. [:D]
I know the Modelr Channel does video stuff. Alot of it is rather cool, but they don’t have much for techniques and stuff yet. Video review of Dragon’s Abrams, and an interesting method to put gear well detail in planes. Other then that it’s mostly show coverage with a couple of anecdotal video’s. Although they do have one of a Sherman crushing a couple of cars. An old Honda Accord and a VW Rabbit to be precise. It’s pretty cool. Maybe having someone video tape, digitize, and then send it to the model channel would be cool. I’ve thought about doing stuff, but trying to import into my computer lately is causing issues. Mostly with the oddball mpg format that my Hauppauge tuner/capture card saves to.
wish i lived closer, that would be a great demo to see, anyone going that has a video camera? a video of it would be worth its weight in gold to us learners
Well, maybe when I get a little more known in the Scale Modeler community, where I reallly think there might be a market for it outside of the members here.?
Right now I couldn’t see it being profitable in the least…
Sure you can, just set it to some rock n roll music (that is what you play isn’t it?) and watch the sales soar! [:D] It isn’t always about profit, think of it as your contribution.
I dont think the investment is too heavy if you knew someone with college level film making skills and a digital camera. Then all you need is a dvd burner, cases and a spool of blank DVDs. At $30 a pop, the break even point would probably be reached pretty quickly. I honestly don’t know though.
I suppose you’re right about an audience, since Swanny has his own website to sell them off of. But you are a published model maker, I’ve got to think there is some distributor who would sell them. [tup]
