IPMS Nationals in Columbus July 22-25

Who’s going? I’ll be there Saturday to see a friend of mine who lives up in Michigan. Really looking forward to seeing how this is run.

Going on well; One vendor room opened late due to a conflict in scheduling. Other vendors are open & selling with some good bargains. Got a couple of good buys

Some good things in contest room. Facebook link here (not mine)

If you are only coming on Saturday plan on arriving early for most available time. Contest room closes at 4 pm for awards placement, vendors begin packing & leaving Saturday afternoon,

Here I am at the nationals.I am not competing but; I did not see anything that stands out yet.Day 2.Lets see if I can find a model that does.

Last years nationals had a best of show model that could not show its insides.1/48 B-17.Lets see what happens this years nationals on my observation mission.

This event is just regular size .Not as big as what I expected. One amazing thing I saw was six flash lights at the same time on a model by judges.Wow!The model turned white w/all that light .

Thanks EdGrune, I figured to get there earlier since it was the last day. I should have taken Friday off and headed up there. Thanks for the link!

Wish I could have attended.

Too much to do.

Perhaps just as well…I’d probably buy more stuff than my car can hold.[:$]

I can’t help wonder how people who share a ride are ever gonna fit everybody AND their purchases in the vehicle for the drive home…[*-)]

I would like to know if any of the dealers showed up with a van full of Dukes of Hazzard General Lee kits.[;)]

The 1/72 Saturn V rocket seen there is from our our forum member here Duke Maddog, AKA Mark Deladuka (sorry if I misspelled your name here my friend).

I think I just saw that Saturn 5. Awesome.

It’s kinda hard to miss…

That it is, Stik.

Wish I’d known of the guys here. I came on a last minute whim and would have been fun to meet up.

All I have to say is wow! The nationals were incredible! Some very outstanding builds! The entire experience was terrific!

I took my 10 year old, and I think he’s hooked now. I bought him two models, but he got another three free, plus the make n’ take mustang. He scored 6 models!

Stik, I believe this is the Saturn V you were speaking of:

I met my friend and his brother there, and they entered some great builds, pulling for them to win some awards. All in all, it was a lot of fun!

Hog, that does appear to be the rocket. Unless there were two of those there, that was done by a forum member from here.

The mother

Correction;;The mother of all thunderbolts was at the nationals in 1/48 scale. From Seattle.

What are the odds?

That dude with the Swedish insignia t-shirt in the back ground is me!

I believe that one got Best of Show!

Nice to see that prize go to a 1/48 single!

I was told that my Barracuda (w/ folded wings) was a serious contender…but who really knows!

I am satisfied though…

All told…4x 1sts, 1x 2nd, and 3 3rds!

It’s a small world!

I forgot, you’re from Michigan, correct? Where at in the Mit? I’m originally from Sterling Heights.

Also, congrats on the awards!

Fermis, nice to see that you dressed appropriately for the show… Unlike what you posted somewhere else  And congrats on your awards!

Thank you!

I’m from Hamburg (Strawberry Lake), near Pinckney. About 15 mins north of Ann Arbor.
