Mine are still in the mail

I fully endorse those brushes.

This sounds like a great way to get engagement from the modelers. I hope that it works out for you.

Mine are supposed to arrive tomorrow via OOPS.

My stash just came in…

Mine should be coming any day now. I have my eye on those scratch brushes for a future purchase.

I could use the scratch brushes around the house and in the garage, but what do you guys use them for in modeling?

And is that the Farm Truck on the cover of FSM?

They’re used for weathering. Scratching up paint, etc.

I very rarely order now from abroad, with the customs duty in Canada is just plain brutal, almost 30% for your purchase. Did they ding you the $5 service fee also or was that included in the $20?

Most of what I pick up now is local shops and Amazon if I can’t find it here. I’m lucky that my job involves travel and I occasionally have enough time on layovers to find nearby shops. Japan and Korea are my go to places for kits as they are dirt cheap there. I do get odd looks from the other crew members though when I bring a huge bag fully of plastic kits with me through security screening.

Guess I kind of derailed this thread a bit, sorry.

@Frozin Yes, duty is brutal. But keep in mind the theme of this thread. An incentive to participate in the forum. I used a $100USD gift card toward the purchase. That worked out to $140 something CDN.
As for the $5, I have no idea. I didn’t look that closely at the receipt and it’s now in the trash. Perhaps I’ll check for that next time.

I leveraged the gift certificate to build a collection of ground cover. Figured it was an excellent way to get started.

Thanks FSM!

Apologies everyone,
@MisterMeester, I read your post and the customs thing kind of got under my skin. I didn’t even realize which topic this was about when I hit submit, although my post was not appropriate for any topic here in the forums. Think I need a bit more time at the bench and less online.

I think it’s a great program and hope it continues to bring in new members and keep the forums around.

@Frozin All good. Cross border relations is a touchy subject these days. I probably shouldn’t have mentioned the duty. I was just trying to point out the great deal I got without the duty added in.

Have a question with regards to the gift cards, as you able to use multiple together or are you only able to use one at a time?

Just got my first gift card yesterday (March 4) via email from all the participation I did on the FSM forums in February. Do these gift cards have any sort of expiration to them? Would mine expire at the end of March or could it carry over to next month in April?
