Introducing Myself as My First Post

Hello members of the fine scale modellers forum community,

I decided to join the forum (along with the world & community of scale kit modelling as a whole) as I am interested in the hobby of Model Railroading, which lead to my interest in kit modelling. I have always wondered and admired about model kit building, being the amazingly detailed kits of various civillian & military land, air and sea vehicles.

One example of a kit I wish to build once I get my scale modeling skills up, is this Trumpeter 1/35th Soviet 2A3 Kondensator 2p self profelled howitzer.

Since model rail roading does have aspects of kit modeling, and I like many military and civillian vehicles, I decided now is the best time to start.

Note: I am new to using online forums as I have never used them before. I have to ask as to why the last two paragraphs are a lighter grey font, unlike the rest of my post?#

Welcome to the hobby and to the forum! I look forward to seeing your builds.

Regarding the font color, I suspect that it’s the forum’s software interacting with the link you included. Be assured, you have done nothing wrong! The software sometimes handles the logic in a weblink in a wonky way. For example, I add images by pasting a link from a site called PostImage. If I just paste the link text as PostImage created it, FSM’s page will toggle everything after my post into underlined text. Like this:

I use the same links at other websites, without that issue. If I edit the link and remove the “url” tags, then Finescale’s page can handle the link correctly.

But it’s a minor issue, and it’s more important to enjoy yourself in the hobby and here in the forum!

Best regards,

Brad

Welcome! I look forward to seeing your work

Welcome aboard! Always good to have another inmate in the asylum. (Not to worry…we’re mostly harmless.)

If you spend any time at all here, you will quickly tumble to the fact that this forum’s software is…how shall we say this nicely…eccentric. It’s as much a source of constant and ongoing frustration to the admins (who are a truly grand lot, one and all) as it is to we forum plebs.

That said…on the whole, we still manage to have a wonderful time. There’s a great pool of talent – and really nice folks – that hang out here. Feel free to jump in with both feet! [snWcm]

Hello and welcome aboard.

I would wait a while on that Trumpeter kit. It has close to 1000 parts, including 200 + for the tracks alone. Leads to a lot of frustration.

Take a look around this site, there are so many interesting projects going on.

Welcome to the Forums!

GJP; Hi and welcome to the forum. You picked a good site as there are several on-line resources to choose from but IHMO they individuals on this forum are a great mix of modelers.

I hope you investigate all of the modeling subjects and threads and enjoy your time here.
