I have been a long time lurker here and have learned a lot from many of you regulars. The Doog’s tuts really got me going in taking my models to the next level, and many others taking the time to give out information has been a huge help also. I have always been a little hesitant to join up, but SMJ’s posta couple days ago encouraged me to go ahead and jump in.
So a little about me. My name is Michael, and I have been building armor seriously for about two years now. I am still trying to really get my style down, but I am getting there. I entered my last show last Oct. and placed 2nd in WWII armor for my Panther. I know this is a constant debate, but I do like to weather and chip my models, but I am trying to keep it down a little. Enough rambling, let me show some pics.
Here is my Panther that took 2nd. It the DML 1/35 steelwheel version, but I used the rubber wheels. I added Fruil tracks and used kite string for the tow cables.
Here is a 1/48 Crusader. I still have to add stowage amd put it on a base.

I am still trying to work out the kinks in my photography. I look forward to jumping in and learning from you guys. When I get further on a couple projects, I will start wips.
Welcome to the forums! You do some nice work, and don’t let the neverending discussion about weathering get ya down–there are more than enough “Weatherheads” here to make you feel right at home!
I’m grateful and pleased to hear that my tutorials have helped you out in your results–if there’s anything I can help you with, or detail for you, don’t hesitate to PM me! I’ve been building some cars lately, and busy in “real life” lately, so I haven’t been posting an armor build for a few months now, but I’ll try to get back to you in reasonable time!

Re the Doog - he has that effect on people, a modelling genius and font of knowledge! He has helped me no end in my short time modelling (approx 7 months now).
I just love your builds-the subtle paint effects that you have achieved on the StuG are beautiful.
The Panther is a stunner. I’ve just bought the DML Panther G with Zim. Looking forward to getting that one on the bench!

Thanks for the welcome. I am glad you like my work. I have been trying many different techniques, and I am finally settling into my own. I am a weatherhead, and glad I am in good company. Look forward to learning more from everyone, and becoming a contributor also.
You better keep a close eye on these folks Michael. If they get the scent of fresh blood they’ll flank you and lock the door where you can’t make an escape.[:|]

Glad you like the name Tigerman, I had to go this rout since you had the Tiger taken already. Thanks for the compliments on the Panther. I amazed myself with that one actually. I am not a huge Panther fan, but that was an awesome project and a great build. I appreciate the comments a lot because I respect the work you guys do so much. Now it’s off to the bench for a bit to weather the Stug.
